Just a quick question I hope. Do CPAP machines need to be recalibrated or anything?
The reason I ask, I just received my new Airsense 10 Autoset. I set the same pecs on the Airsense as I had on the S9 Escape Auto. I put everything together and tried it to make certain everything was ready for bed time. The pressure on the new machine was significantly stronger. I know they have different algorithms, etc... but is it possible that the S9, after only 5000 hours had lost something in the wind pump?
New machine different pressure?
Re: New machine different pressure?
5000 hours isn't near what I read is a normal life expectancy of a CPAP machine so it shouldn't be losing pressure.
The only way to tell for sure is to put a manometer on both of them and measure the output.
Your DME should be able to do that if you request it.

Re: New machine different pressure?
all you need is a container of water tall enough to mesure your pressure in cm. ... insurt the hose untill the air stops bubbling out and measure the distance for the surface of the water .
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Re: New machine different pressure?
That's a pretty smart approach. (Water) That's how it originated.
Perhaps something is off with the older machine. I slept with the new machine last night with the pressure set to a lower range 8-13 and it varied between 8.5 and 9.5. I slept like a baby. All be it some of that is probably a placebo effect.

Are you sure you selected the correct hose and mask settings in the clinician's menu? The hose setting is particularly important. I think the mask setting on the Resmed's is just used to calculate the intentional leak rate.
