Name my machine please
Tag says REMstar Auto REF 550P
PR REMstar Auto A-FLEX on top of unit.
I can't figure out which one this is from the drop box under profiles to change it.
Also if anyone has the time and would be willing to help me set this up with the bells and whistles etc., I would be thrilled! I've got it on straight pressure and have been playing with the humidifier which I love!!! Also have the mask alert and start/stop on. I have never used a ramp or really much of the other stuff so not even sure what all it does. Not a big deal to leave it as is but I'd love to see what if anything I am missing!
Thanks!

Have the manual but honestly since I'm clueless about what some of these things do I don't know what to change anything to. I don't want to do something that could be bad for me.yaconsult wrote:I have the same machine - 550P - so check under this post.

Re: Name my machine please
Do you have your prescription for the settings?
Do you have a copy of your sleep study/sleep titration.
With these we can help with the setup.
You need to be able to get to the clinician/provider menu.
On a Respironics series 50 machine:
Accessing the Provider Mode Screens
Accessing provider mode unlocks settings that cannot be modified by the user. To access provider mode:
1. Supply Power to the device. First, plug the socket end of the AC power cord into the power supply. Then plug the pronged end of the AC power cord into an electrical outlet that is not controlled by a wall switch. Finally, plug the power supply cord’s connector into the power inlet on the back of the device.
2. Once the device is powered, the Home Screen appears.
Turn the wheel to toggle between the four options and highlight “Setup”..
3. Once “ Setup” is highlighted, press and hold both the Control Wheel and the Ramp Button on the device for at least 5 seconds.
4. You will hear a quick double beep and the Provider Mode Screen will appear. You are now in provider mode.
5. Select Setup again and press the Control Wheel once more to enter the Provider mode setup screens.
You can rotate the Control Wheel to look at the various parameters.
6. To exit Provider Mode, select EXIT and press the Control Wheel.

Re: Name my machine please
it's not too complicated, your machine, in apap mode, has a minimum and maximum pressure setting, vs a single pressure setting in cpap mode. you generally want to set the minimum pressure setting to be close to what your single pressure setting is, perhaps 1cm lower, and you can set the max higher, 2-3,or even more, and see what, if anything, the machine wants to do while you're asleep.postitnote wrote:Have the manual but honestly since I'm clueless about what some of these things do I don't know what to change anything to. it is important to check the data with sleepyhead the next day, and see how things went, as well as making notes as to how you feel (you can also do that in sleepyhead)

Re: Name my machine !please
Ah! I avoid anything that has orphans in it. I know the name Jungle Book but none of the characters. The boy was an orphan so I refused to watch it. My mother used to threaten to send me to live in an orphanage when I was little.BlackSpinner wrote:Kipling - the story about the kid brought up by animals "Jungle Book" - Kaa was the name of the big snake.I'm not clever enough to know what Kaa means.
JDS74 PM'd you.
Cool, I will start by setting the apap mode then and see how that goes for a few days. Since I'm at 13 straight I'll try 12 to maybe 15 on the high side and then have my daughter check Sleephead. She says everything seems to be good so far. A minor leak here and there but I think that's when I itch the side of my nose.palerider wrote:
