Best forum for a-fib discussion and support?

Post by surf_rower » Sun Apr 26, 2015 9:54 am

Hi all,
Since there are correlations between OSA and a-fib, I figure some of you must have perused the forums for a-fib. Are there any as good as this one? (No of course not.) What's your recommendation for a good one?
Asking for my husband, who is afraid to look at such forums, because all the bad stuff on them makes him anxious.

Not aware of any forums dedicated specifically to a-fib, but certainly there are probably many good cardiology ones, or general med ones like Mayo Clinic or NIH that you can do a search on for it. Or just Google a-fib, but be careful to weed out the good stuff from e.g. those looking to sell you on e.g. alternative medicine fixes. And you can Google a-fib and apnea... I'm sure you'll find a bunch of notes referring you to forums that have discussed it... but do check out the dates of the latest 'entries' as some are out of date.

FYI, there are ablation procedures which may be considered, or a pacemaker, maybe even other treatments.
Cpap sometimes helps, or not.
Your cardiologist should be able to direct you; and a second (professional) opinion is not out of line.

Yes, that's the one.

Interesting...

http://www.affibers.net also seems to work.

If all else fails, google Hans Larsen along with afib and you should be able to get there.

Thanks Chunkyfrog, we have plenty of doctors...have talked for months about various options for procedures, drugs, etc., have taken a bunch of tests and scans, but was looking for a user forum like this one, since, well, the doctors aren't helping very much with the "I'm all alone" feeling my husband has.

I have used healthboards.com and found it helpful for other issues. Just put a-fib in the search box. It's definitely people with same issues (as opposed to health professionals).
