I always advise when doing jobs like this - grab your phone and take lots of pictures as you take things apart. If you don't need them, they are easy to delete. If you do need them, they can be invaluable!
I'm starting to wonder if I should check that wire on my low hour 550P as opposed to waiting for it to fail? Do we have any idea how common this problem is? If rare, I wouldn't bother. If it happens 50% of the time or more, it would probably be worth it. I have lots of experience with electronics so I'm comfortable working on stuff.
it's so easy to pop the cover of the sysone machines, I say, just do it... long shank t20, two screws, gently pull off one knob, and you're in. I'd unplug and replug all the connectors, maybe even take a pencil eraser to the posts to clean them...
call it 'preventative maintenance'.
there's no telling how prevalent this issue is, but it keeps getting repeated.... how many people simply replace their units without ever finding out that's what's wrong?
