Back to the question...is a humidifier really necessary?
Or is adding more moisture to whatever is already in your room air really necessary.
For me it is.
I have used the humidifier with a low setting and I have also run out water in the chamber because I forgot to fill it at bedtime and that meant I used it part of the night with no water at all and believe me...my nasal mucosa let me know exactly how much they didn't like it and the ugly symptoms took 3 to 5 days to go away.
I don't forget very often now.
And where I live isn't particularly arid...southern Missouri and we get a lot of the "hot, humid south" stuff here.
I have always said that I would do without the machine before I would do without the added moisture and passover mode won't cut it for me....and for me that statement still stands.
It's entirely personal preference whether to use added moisture or not...or how much or how little if you use added moisture.
For me keeping my nasal mucosa happy constitutes more than simple "comfort" in my mind because the medical symptoms I get when they are unhappy are very real and very ugly and prolonged.
Is Humidifier really necessary?

Re: Is Humidifier really necessary?
After reading the posts here I disconnected the humidifier and changed the climate line to the slimline and didn't notice the difference last night. Will keep it this way for a few more nights and see how it goes.
Humidity around here is pretty high this time of the year ( between 60 and 80%)
