Pilairo Q moisture buildup
I'm trying to figure out why my new Pilairo Q mask seems to have issues with rainout when my P10 and Swift FX don't. The humidifier and hose temp settings are exactly the same - 6 and 80F, respectively. But I get moisture buildup in my Pilairo Q mask that is causing irritation on my nostrils. The house humidity has also been the same - between 45 and 48%. It seems to build up in the side of the cushion and when I turn over, the fountain runs down my nose. Any ideas?

I guess you could go back to the P10 or Swift FX since you didn't have the problem with them.

I didn't have problem with rainout. The Pilairo Q has been a godsend in every other way as far as fit, leaks and comfort. I just don't like the nasal rinse.LSAT wrote:I guess you could go back to the P10 or Swift FX since you didn't have the problem with them.

Re: Pilairo Q moisture buildup
I am going to go out on a limb here but I have used the Pilairo and I thought the nasal cushion walls were slightly thinner...very delicate feeling...almost like paper thin in areas. One of the nice things about the nasal pillows was the general feel and delicate texture.
So...with this maybe slightly thinner walls....maybe the air in the pillows is just cooling a little faster and a little more than with the other nasal pillows.
So with this particular mask you may need a little more incoming warm air to offset the fact that the air in the Pilairo is probably just a tiny bit cooler in the pillows when just tips the scale and lets the condensation happen.

Thanks Pugsy. That's a great hypothesis. I'll test that by increasing the hose temp again. I had lowered it because of running out of water in my humidifier chamber, but the house humidity has been higher as it warms up outside, so hopefully I won't be chasing my tail with lowering and raising the hose temp.
