EncorePro 6.22

Post by hairnet » Wed Apr 01, 2015 3:05 pm

Nice to be reading the forum again. I have recently gotten back to my Respironics Auto with Cflex after having used a dental appliance for about 4 years. The software I have for my machine is EncorePro version 6.22. I now have a Mac but am running Windows 7 Professional 64bit on Virtual Box. Can I use this same software or will I need a new version and will it work in Virtual Box?

I don't know if that older Encore version will work on Windows 7 or not... I have my doubts though.
Give it a try and if it won't install it will tell you.
If that happens send me a private message and I will point you to a newer version that will install and work on Windows 7.
There are people using Macs with Windows installed and using Encore...so that part isn't the problem.
I am thinking that your much older Encore program won't be compatible with Win 7. I am not familiar with that particular older version as it probably predates when I started therapy 6 years ago with Encore...and Encore at that time was limited to Vista and older I think.

Thanks for your reply. You are correct. I think I got this version in 2006. I will give it a try and see what happens. It does state on the box that it is compatible with Windows 98SE, 2000, XP or Server 2003. Time marches on.

I suspect you are going to need a newer version so I went ahead and sent you a private message.
Figured might as well do it now just in case I can't get online later....we have thunder boomers in the forecast for tonight and next day or so.

EncorePro 6.22

I’m surprised to hear that any of us are able to use EncorePro. It was my understanding that mere mortals (not just those of the medical community) could only use EncoreBasic. I am running Win7 (Professional Version) and get along fine with version EncoreBasic V2.4.8.0 (which I believe to be the latest EncoreBasic program). I was under the impression the difference between EBasic and EPro had to do with multiuser/networking provisions.

That having been said, I’d urge you to try Sleepyhead. I’m running SleepyHead-OpenGL_v0.9.8_1.exe – which I believe to be its latest version. It works fine in a Win7 environment: Returns the same data as Encore plus more and is infinitely more informative and easy to use and understand.

I’m still curious about the EncorePro question. Is EncorePro available to us; what version is the latest; and how does it differ from EncoreBasic?

I imagine the O.P. is still using a M-Series or earlier unit with the smartcard not supported by Sleepyhead. Encorebasic 2.4.8 does work well with those machines, and gives all the information I recall seeing in EncorePro. It is not like the old Encore Viewer that I remember paying like $100 for years ago.

I'm so glad to have modern current equipment that works with SH.

I am pretty sure that OP here is using an older machine that won't work with Sleepyhead. Unless he has a new machine since 2006 and it's a PR S1 machine SleepyHead won't work on those old machines.

It's available if you know where to look but it isn't officially available to patients.
The official patient version is Encore Viewer and this is the latest that I know of.
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/encore ... onics.html

With Encore and those older machines that use the DT3500 Smart Card reader...all the Encore software products will give the exact same reports no matter if Viewer, Pro or Basic is used.

With the PR S1 machines there is a very minor difference in the wave form graph availability between Basic and Pro.
Basic makes you do a little more work to have anything other than the most recent wave form graph available.
That's it. Otherwise the reports between Viewer, Pro and Basic are all identical. You gain nothing by using Pro except headaches.
Pro needs the problematic SQL server database thing to work and it seems like if there is going to be an install failure with Pro it is because of the SQL thing...big PITA.
EncoreBasic doesn't install or need the SQL thing for it to work. It used to be a lot smaller but Encore doesn't know how to do a software program small and keep it small.
The basic reports from all the Encore products have never really changed. My old Encore Viewer's reports in 2009 with my M series reports are pretty much still the same format as my PR S1 reports except that the PR S1 reports now include RERAs and Clear Airway events which of course the older machines never recorded so they couldn't show them.

With pretty much all of the Encore products any new versions have mainly addressed either new machines to make the software work with the new models or to make the software work with new Windows OS versions.
The guts of the reports that we look at....haven't changed no matter which version is used.

If you want Pro...I can help you find it but it won't show you anything that you aren't already seeing with Basic.
It's a PITA to use and a lot more work and I don't offer support for it anymore because it caused me too much work and too many headaches and there's no need for me to go through that just because someone wants to use Pro because they think that if it's "Pro" it must be better because it isn't.
If you want Pro...you are on your own. Send me a PM and I will help you find the latest version that I am aware of.

Having problems with the "smartcard" on my old machine motivated me to check craigslist and get something newer that was compatible with sleepyhead. Since you already have a machine, there's no hurry but you could start monitoring craigslist looking for a good deal. 90% of them are overpriced, so it could take a while. I got lucky and found a nearly new sleepyhead compatible machine for $100 when a local guy got a newer machine through his insurance.

Now I've gotten fancy and picked up a wireless sdcard that I use with sleepmaster to grab my data without having to remove the card from the machine. Oh, and the new machine is more comfortable to use than the old machine thanks to the EPR modes it has. Sleepyhead is miles ahead of the official software, which only generates reports. Sleepyhead is completely interactive and you can zoom and pan and slide the window to look at anything you want to in great detail. Once you use it, you won't want anything else.

You left out a digit.......actually, the correct version is 1.6.22. And, that's what I use.

It MAY work with Win 7, but you will probably need a new driver for the card reader.
