Help-BiPap machine won't turn on

Post by tqpannie » Wed Aug 28, 2013 7:25 pm

Called DME they don't consider it an emergency. What should I do here? I am on supplemental o2 at night should I just go to bed with the supplemental o2 tonight? My AHI is so good with the machine I am afraid to sleep without it.

I have to go to bed soon as I have to be up at 4 am to log into work.

Have you tried another outlet? Made sure everything is securely plugged in? Hopefully it is something simple.

Yup-I've tried everything. I even moved it to another room thinking it was the outlet. See I think it's urgent because to me my life kind of depends on it. I'm a worry wart and I fear sleeping without the machine.

If I hadn't taken my restless leg meds I would just try to stay up but I'm struggling just sitting here.

If that's not an emergency then what in the world is?

If you have a recliner or at least prop up as much as possible and raise your oxygen.

You did check your power brick to make sure it didn't come loose.

As you said, it's your life and a someone else said, if this isn't an emergency, what is? I would try calling my sleep doctor and see if they can light a fire under the DME.

I know it can't help you now but this is a good reason to have a backup machine, even a brick as long as it works. You can get a gently used one cheaply enough. I'd certainly speak to the manager of the DME and ask him/her what's the policy for emergencies! I hope you get it settled asap.

Check your filter and see if it is clogged up. The other night my machine wouldn't start. My filter was pretty dirty, so I changed it and it then started. Just an idea.
I also have used a night guard for twelve years.

It should have converted the 220V (assuming there is 220 V) but it sounds like something fried. Get a multitester and check the output of the power supply. If it's -0- it's dead. If it's 24V the machine's dead.

Power went off one night & when it came back on the machine didn't. You couldn't turn it on,it took 4hrs before it came on. Then weeks later we had another blackout & the same thing happened. We unplugged it again to take on holidays & it won't work at all. Very frustrated as my husband needs it for his health. HELP
