I just got an email. http://www.sleepapnea.org/resources/cpa ... ogram.html
I am guessing they are always out of machines. But what about the rest of their site?
Anyone know anything about this?

Re: Anyone know anything about this?
The American Sleep Apnea Association acknowledges and thanks the following organizations for their generous support of the CPAP Assistance Progarm:
They can't spell?
Years ago I was on a support forum called "awake in Philidelphia". Might be part of this now.

resmed donated 10,000 machines to that program last year.

In many respects, if you "follow the money," the ASAA is the manufacturers.

Machines are available for the needy. ResMed made a substantial donation but I don't know which models.
Masks also are available I think but unsure as to what.
There are some hoops to jump through but from what I was told they are minimal.
They WILL NOT or CANNOT ship directly to a patient. They will ship to a doctor and it can be a primary care doctor.
It doesn't have to be a sleep doctor specialist.

Edit: Looks like the link I have is the same as the one that is being sent in the email.

I just got the same email though it was sent to an email address I hardly ever use on Yahoo.

The physician completes the application on behalf of the patient and it involves a 100.00 dollar application fee which I assume is charged to the patient. Regarding masks, when I briefly volunteered for the program, the physician needed to specify the type of mask the patient needed and it would be provided along with the machine. I don't remember what would happen if that specific mask couldn't be provided.
Before Resmed made its donation, a patient could get a non data capable machine if the machine met the criteria to be given to a patient. Hopefully, that no longer is the case although as you say Pugsy, I don't think there was any information on what models were donated.
Additionally, at one point, they were having trouble providing bipap machines to patients who needed them. Hopefully, the Resmed donations solved that problem.
