My experience using CPAP for 2 years

Post by Oaziz1 » Sat Mar 28, 2015 7:00 pm

Hi,

I Just wanted to post my experience using Resmed for 2 years and using many many different kinds of masks. I must say there are a number of variables people don't understand in getting proper CPAP therapy.

a) Right pressure. b) Don't use machine without water in the humidifier. c) Use the right mask. I use the Swift LX and it works for me but what i didn't realize was that I was using the wrong size of pillow. I was using smalls as they fit well but what i needed was large and I find that most therapists don't appreciate what small changes can mean to your overall health. I changed from small to large and it was like night and day. I started feeling young and better again and my memory improved and i started dreaming again. I hadn't had dreams in months and all these things didn't add up for me but when i got it back, it all made sense. I need the bigger size to push more air into my lungs and I needed the EPR turned off as I have severe apnea and need the constant pressure. That's my experience so that you may not have to suffer for as long as I did. Was really dark for months when it didn't work, felt depressed and wanted to die and no one really cared. All these docs and therapists are just scamming you for your money. If they don't have apnea themselves, how can they truly empathize with what you are going through? For me Apnea changes my personality, turns me into a grouch and a social outcast, i cocoon myself and my usual outgoing, funny personality with sharp wit is no more. That's just depressing on a personal level. I really hope that one day, we can cure this thing outright as dealing with this has been the greatest challenge of my life. Peace!

Yeah, being stuck in treatment that is not optimized without a clue how much of a difference small tweaks can make, it can feel as if we'll never get better. Glad you have found some things that have worked for you and restored at least a degree of your former self. Best wishes in your future experience with CPAP. May it be everything the early times were not.
