I would consider looking into a full face mask(FFM) in case you can't breathe out of your nose due to your Allergies. Some have a FFM as a backup for reasons like this. With that AHI of 2.88 I don't think there is anything to worry about. but it wouldn't hurt to show any doctor you see so they know what you are experiencing .

I'm more concerned that the OP assumes he/she has no more SA. Weight loss is not a magic bullet. It might rid you of type 2 diabetes symptoms but not SA as far as I know. You can buy a Double sided Mouth guard locally at a local pharmacy or sporting good store. Make sure you get one you can mold by boiling it and putting it in your mouth and biting down on it. I heard these work very well and worth trying before spending over 3000 on a device from a dentist.

How old is the machine? If it is less then 2 years old it may be covered under the warrantee. I would call the DME if it was under 2 years old and they may just replace it with a new machine or get it repaired.
