mr sneaky (aka, his jediness) changed it, but didn't document it. put DEFINES+=BrokenGL in your qmake line, and I forgot his muttering about having done so. (it was late, for one of us, at least).

my qmake line for brokengl:
/opt/Qt5.4.0/5.4/gcc_64/bin/qmake DEFINES+=BrokenGL QMAKE_CXXFLAGS_WARN_ON=-Wall\ -Wno-unused-parameter\ -Wno-unused-but-set-variable\ -Wno-unused-variable\ -Wno-narrowing -o Makefile ../sleepyhead-code/SleepyHeadQT.pro

for opengl:
/opt/Qt5.4.0/5.4/gcc_64/bin/qmake QMAKE_CXXFLAGS_WARN_ON=-Wall\ -Wno-unused-parameter\ -Wno-unused-but-set-variable\ -Wno-unused-variable\ -Wno-narrowing -o Makefile ../sleepyhead-code/SleepyHeadQT.pro

if you ever have a crashing problem and need to submit a stack trace, add this to the qmake line
CONFIG+=debug

otherwise, qmake doesn't load debugging symbols into the executable, and mark gets crankier than usual.

.
I finally installed the BrokenGL version and it runs beautifully on my Linux .

But I also think that jedimark should revise the instructions on his SourceForge site. A programer will probably figure out the library needed for compiling but even a programmer will likely not know about the 'DEFINES+=BrokenGL' thing when using a machine with GL lower than 2.0
I am not from the field and needed help with both.
Thanks archangle and palerider

he will, this *is* a work in progress.

I'm new to Sleepyhead today. So far the information has been very useful, thanks to Pugsy's tips.

One minor problem: the time of beginning CPAP therapy always displays one hour later than actual time. Last night for example, it shows CPAP beginning at 21:30 and ending at 08:00 when I know it began at 20:30 and I awoke at 07:00.

I have created several profiles trying different settings of Time Zone and DST options, but it always shows CPAP beginning at 21:30 for last night.

PR System One, A flex
Windows 7, 64 bit. (32 bit Sleepyhead)

It's only a minor issue, since I can subtract an hour.

Sleepyhead is a great public health service.
Thanks for all of your work.

your machine may just be off by that much, that's why there's an offset compensation in the preferences, (cpap tab, I think) just adjust it.

since it's probably not exactly an hour, make a note what time you go to sleep tonight, then tomorrow, adjust the offset so it looks good.

respir machines have a clock set to GMT at the factory, and then it just drifts off, it can't be set except by someone with the special repair software and interface connector.

I did as you suggested and discovered my CPAP's internal clock is 58 minutes off.

Although I had seen the offset setting, I was led astray by the time being almost exactly one hour off (we had recently switched to Daylight Savings Time)

Thanks for your help.

Someone asked if here are Linux users. Yes, Iam one of them. I got ResMed AirSense 10 in June 2015. Some problems to start to use it. But the greatest thing I found was SleepyHead! I installed debian package SleepyHead v. 0.8.3 to my Kubuntu computer. Kubuntu is Ubuntu + KDE. And Ubuntu is debian based distribution. Ok. The software worked. But I dind't able to change language. I have translated 10 years before some open source software to finnish, so I wanted do that to this software too. I installed linguist and started to translate. Then I noticed, that SH don't see the .qm files. So I installed Qt Designer to my computer, so I could be able to see from the code what the program does. Well I found that it creates the path to translation file not correctly. So I hard coded my Translations path to code and compiled. I got the software working ok and now there are other about 7 languages too.

The last tought to translation.cpp is:

Code: Select all

#ifdef Q_OS_MAC
    QString transdir = QDir::cleanPath(QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath() +
                                   "/../Resources/Translations/");

#else ifdef UBUNTU or derived like KUBUNTU, XUBUNTU, LUBUNTU or .... <- this is not working code but merely english :)

    /* const */ QString transdir = QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath() + "/Translations/";
    transdir = transdir.mid(2,transdir.length()-2); // Take away first space and " mark from beginning of path stiring and from the end of string, it works then.
    // transdir = transdir.trimmed();

# #else ...

    const QString transdir = QCoreApplication::applicationDirPath() + "/Translations/";

#endif
And then I made a suggestion to user interface:
My friendly and honest suggestions to SleepyHead 0.9.8-1 improving user interface:

Change language is not thing of help. That should be in profile (Edit profile) or such menu. Or buttons in toolbar (but the language change is only very seldom, only one time).

Help show debug panel is better in View menu.

Show performance also not in help but view menu.

Data menu:

Import ZEO data should be in File menu. Export and import in same menu.

Import Somnopose also to File menu

Maybe in File menu is submenu import and export. And behind import there are all several cpap-devices. Oximetry is another issue. That can be File-Oximetry-...

Thanks!
And this day I found that Reports are english and there are no translation xml elements to them. So can you change the code that it takes the texts from display texts also to reports texts too. I think that it is better. When someone translates one sentence, it affects both to screend ans to paper (or pdf). There can be other things, which can be simplified. And in welcome screen there are text with english and finnish words, because there is no way to translate the whole sentence.
Käytit ResMed AutoSet edellisen kerran...

Maskisi vuotaa liikaa. Kerro asiasta unihoitajallesi.

I have met palerider last night in Freenode IRC and discussed some sentences. I think this is great software and I want to improve it. First with suggestions and then perhaps with documentation and code too! And I can help you here when you have installation problems to Ubuntu Linux computers.

Very quick help how to translate SleepyHead to your language on Linux-computer. I don't use Windows at home.

Very first look SleepyHead wiki. Translation guide.

Then install your computer Qt5 tools. It contains linguist translation software. I had to google some before I found that Qt5 development package to my platform.

Then you can get English language .ts textfile. I think you find that with several ways. There are sites, who display those files. And you can download source package of SleepyHead, which contains translation files.

Then you can copy english text .ts file to your own language name. In my case it's Suomi or finnish (fi) for example:

Code: Select all

cp English.en_UK.ts Suomi.fi.ts
Then start linguist translating program

Code: Select all

linguist Suomi.fi.ts
You can there write your native language texts.

Then you have to make .qm file from .ts file. SleepyHead don't use .ts files.

Code: Select all

lrelease Suomi.fi.ts
And now you have Suomi.fi.ts and Suomi.fi.qm. Copy the last file to Translations directory and start SleepyHead. Then change language. And thats it! Then you can distribute the .qm file to other your country users!

If you want to use the 0.9.8-1 version. It's not that difficult to build it from the source.

Here's how I built it.

It also runs pretty well under Wine.

I used just that your advise to compile the SleepyHead. Thank you! Now I wonder how to get updates with git.

Mark hasn't done any updates in quite some time, and doesn't seem to likely to do any more soon.

I haven't been through the git update process, but if you just changed directories and did the same sequence, I think you'd get the latest version, should any updates be published.

The latest testing proves that original translation directory code translation.cpp works ok. Whoah me! But the translation directory should be under the directory where executable is. If not, SleepyHead don't see languages.

Ubuntu have /usr/local/bin to executables and /usr/local/share to resource files like translations. And I think that user home directory could have cpap data directory.

So, my last suggestion to that problem is that SH should have a setting to translation file directory. Ok? And debian installation package .deb should have instructions which installs software such directories.

You shouldn't be loading SH into the /usr/local directories. It should be located in it's own directory structure with all the necessary files it needs under it. /usr/local/bin is not normally where you load applications. It is normally located for common system scripts and binaries.

Perhaps a location like /usr/local/sleepyhead with all it's files under there.
