Missing data? No, Day Light Savings Time!!!

So, when I checked last night's data I found I was missing one hour starting at around 2:15 AM. Then I realized that it was due to Day Light Savings Time. This was a relief because last time I was missing data it was just before my SmartCard got messed up. So, all is well and happy Day Light Savings...

Good reminder. I pull mine out and shake it out every few days or at least once a week.

Re: ENCORE PRO 2 - SD CARD PROBLEMS

Open task manager (right click on your menu bar), go to the service tab and check the status of your smart card service. The status shoud show that it is running. If it is not, start it, then try to read the card.

Re: My cholestrol has gone through the roof

I think my diet is ok although i have 2 eggs for breakfast most mornings. Riding your bicycle is good for lowering your cholesterol, but you should cut back on the eggs, cheese and dairy products in general to reduce your cholesterol. I prefer eggs, but I usually have a bowl of oatmeal (0 cholester...

Re: M Series data continues to fail me

I suggest you obtain a new SmartCard and initialize it. Try using that for a couple of days and see what happens. A couple of things that I always do to make sure I do not loose data: To remove SmartCard from the apap, I always unplug power to my apap before I remove the SmartCard. I always plug in ...

Re: Consistent AHI

Most people would be happy with an AHI of 2.1 and in general an AHI under 5 would be considered acceptable by many. If you wish to get your AHI lower you will probably have to monitor your results (using a smartcard reader and software) as you try different pressures. As always, make small changes (...

Re: APNEA ONLY WHEN ON BACK

I also have a degree of positional sleep apnea. My sleep apnea is worse when I sleep on my back as shown during my sleep study. I used to sleep mostly on my back, but I would sleep on my side at some point during most nights. My RT said to just sleep on my back and let my apap adjust accordingly. Ho...

Re: Pressure paradox

OK, well I changed the pressure on my apap and raised the minimum from 7 to 9. After one week using the apap with the minimum pressure set at 9 my week-long average AHI decreased from an average of around 2.5 down to 1.0. The weekly averages look as follows: PSI: 9 AI: 0.6 HI: 0.4 AHI: 1.0 So, I am ...

Re: Pressure paradox

Thanks KatieW, I will take your suggestions about the oxyimeter. By posting here I was hoping to find some suggestions of others and you have provided me with a good point of view. For now I am not sure whether to set my minimum to 7, 8 or 9. Once I figure this out, then I may try using the apap in ...

Re: Pressure paradox

. . . Given that whether the pressure is 7, 8 or 9 my overall AHI is below 5 I am not sure that there is much of a difference. There is a difference if you FEEL the difference. Some do, some don't. Depends on how sensitive your nervous system is. Many feel that they may as well get AHI as low as po...

Re: Pressure paradox

Are you talking about events per hours? The slight increase of AI with pressure could be central in nature. Looks like pressure of 9 is your sweet spot. Just my opinion not medical. The figures represent average apneas, hypopneas and AHI per hour. I am not sure about centrals, but according to the ...

Re: Pressure paradox

Are those the results of running at a straight pressure all night or in a range of pressures? In general, with a Respironics machine, many consider the goal to be shooting for lower machine-estimated AHI overall. With a ResMed machine, many shoot for lower machine-estimated AI before paying any att...

Pressure paradox

I am using an auto-pap I have been tracking my AHI data. I have set the auto-pap in a range from 7 to 12. The pressure very rarely goes above 9 and when it does the results are worse. Reviewing the last week few week’s data I noticed that as my pressure increases from a minimum of 7 to 9 that the nu...

Re: why is my CPAP therapy not working

Vettman, you have been using cpap for a few years and hopefully you only need to have your pressure adjusted to put things right again. Your new sleep study should provide some answers. Good luck.

Re: Removing Smartcard from APAP, how long should I wait?

I always unplug the power to my apap, wait a few seconds and then remove the card. Then I leave the power off until I have re-inserted the card and once the card is back in the slot I plug the power back in. I think that removing the card when the machine is running may cause a "read error" with the...
