Hey Everyone,
I just completed my 21st day of APAP treatment. So far, things have been going very well aside from some mask irritation that's occurring on the bridge of my nose. I've also had a lot of difficulty side sleeping as my nasal mask always shifts around when pressure is put on the side of my head and it causes a small leak. Lastly, I have facial hair, and sometimes the nasal mask feels very uncomfortable on top of the hair. These three issues combined has prompted me to schedule a mask fitting with the DME tomorrow before my 30 day trial with the Phillips Wisp is over. I am thinking that I would like to give a nasal pillow a try this time around. What do folks out there recommend for nasal pillows? I greatly appreciate your help!

Re: Mask Fitting Tomorrow
Personally, I had a lot of trouble with nose-bleeds pre-CPAP. Thus I requested a humidifier and have always used it and the nosebleeds cleared up for 8 years now. I could not tolerate the nose pillow system, although I did try it briefly during my sleep study. But lots of people do like it because it is so small.

I don't personally use one but I set them up and based on patient feedback I would go with the ResMed Airfit P10. Patients love them because they are lightweight, comfortable, and simple to use. I love them because the patients are happy and rarely need to be refited when they get them.
Good luck tomorrow!

Look at the ResMed AirFit P10 nasal mask (click on the link in my profile line to see it) and also look at the ResMed Swift FX nasal pillow mask.
If your DME doesn't have either of those 2 above they might have one of the Respironics nasal pillow mask...and in that case look at the Nuance....but IMHO the ResMed (either the P10 or the Swift FX) are better choices mainly because of the head gear.
You can look at various styles here

Re: Mask Fitting Tomorrow
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the advice, I ended up seeing the DME yesterday and got an Resmed Airfit P10. I ended up getting some Lanolin ointment as well to help with any soreness in my nostrils. Night one went very well, in fact, I wish I had given the nasal pillows a try sooner. I found it much easier to move around and sleep in the positions I enjoy. I also noticed an improvement in my AHI and Mask Leak with the nasal pillows. Anyways, I just wanted to share the good news and say thank you!

Glad to hear you like the P10....while not everyone out there loves it which is the way it is with all masks....it has been well received by a sizable number of nasal pillow users and even some other who never thought they would like nasal pillows.
Finding a suitable mask is probably the hardest part to all this cpap therapy stuff and once you do it sure makes it easier to deal with any other little bumps in the road.
Congratulations on finding a suitable mask relatively quickly.
