Re: Smargie’s Therapy Thread...in Need of ASV Advice

Hi Smargie, Good to see you got a new machine and are trying. I'm confident you'll adjust and it will work for you. I'm not an ASV expert, but I understand the ASV does not report centrals because technically, as PR implies, you can't have them while using the machine. If you don't initiate a breath...

Re: OSCAR Suggestions & Bug reporting

[quote When documentation begins Medicare considers the first 90 days a trial period. Documentation of compliance begins after 31 days of usage but before 90 days of usage. In other words, documentation must be done between Day 32 and Day 89 of the time you started using the machine.[/i] I found th...

Re: Cheap EEGs for sleep stage detection?

Zeo will still work, but the not meant to be replaced sensor batteries are getting pretty old now and finding one that is still functional might be difficult. See the link in my signature "New Bedside Zeo Monitor"

Re: Smargie’s Therapy Thread

... so I suppose that means that the Respiratory Therapist at the DME chose the machine. And I believe people on here have said something like the DME gets paid the same amount no matter which machine they give you? Is that correct? I don't really follow how that works, to be honest. I haven't been...

Re: One year CPAP use, still no effect

The only culprit left is my mental health. I have been dealing with a lot of anxiety and mild depression for the past five years (in a way, I have been dealing with it since my teens, but in much lesser form). I have also refrained from doing physical exercise (though I walk on average 10.000 steps...

Every OA I've ever had has had irregular breathing before it as well. Does that mean they are all fake too? I wonder if I even have sleep apnea.
Remember, you don't see the apneas that were prevented by the therapy.

Here is a more zoomed in example of some CA's that Pugsy requested:
To me, that looks like an arousal around 01:16:30 followed by a CA followed by awake breathing at 01:17:20 followed by the second CA. I don't think either of these would count in a lab setting.

Re: Mouth breathing

Jay—yes, I’m very happy to have that behind me. My follow up appointment is on June 24... is it really true that it’s up to the patient to choose the brand and model, so long as it fits the prescription? Hi, Yes, you have quite a bit of control in choosing your equipment, though it may not seem lik...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?

Tyrone, here's an oldie that may be of some interest to you: (I think it was when wearing a FFM) http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t100497/Soft-Neck-Brace-Reduces-Flow-Limititations.html#p936554 Lately, I've been getting some mask leaks after I fall asleep, I assume due to my jaw dropping as I relax...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?

The pressure *increase* during inhalation can help alleviate flow limitations, sometimes more than just static higher pressure. I was thinking that. Probably not technically correct, but something like greater acceleration or momentum when starting from a lower level with EPR. Well, *classically* w...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?

Interesting result. I would not have expected Flow Limitations to increase when turning EPR off. Same mask, right? Jay....I have now seen 2 people who show increased FLs when using EPR. The other one was someone over on Jason's forum. Apparently while not common and certainly goes against all logic...

Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?

I've added your Chart with EPR on for comparison: Here is the same settings with EPR off as requested. CA's decreased by 80% but flow limitations increased significantly and the required pressure was much higher. Since I can't increase pressure without getting aerophagia I'm not sure how to proceed....

What do you think? Is it possible you have become obsessed with CPAP and the daily reports and are overlooking the other things needed for healthy living and healthy sleep? http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t175263/How-is-possible-to-have-a-great-night-on-paper-and-still-feel-like-garbage.html#p129...
