how long until you sleep through the night

I have a new CPAP, no problems with fit. Fall asleep right away, but I continue to wake up all night. I'd pay a million dollars to sleep through the night....how long will it be?

What machine are you using? What are your settings? Are you using any software to get a read on what is happening?

Hi. How long have you been using CPAP? Sounds like you don't have mask issues or falling asleep problems, so that's a good start. Here's a few things to consider when frequent wakeups persist.
- Are you certain your treatment is therapeutic? If not, events could be causing wakeups. How do your leaks look in your data?
- Are you using an auto adjusting machine? Some people are sensitive to pressure changes.
- On any meds that could have the side effect of disrupting sleep?
- Any medical conditions that affect sleep? (pain, thyroid dysfunction, etc.)
- Any indications there are other sleep disorders, like maybe limb movements?
- Is your sleeping environment conducive to uninterrupted sleep?
- It takes time for the brain to adjust to the new sensations and be able to relax and not be on alert. May just need time.

I have only been on XPAP 4 1/2 years. Now I usually only get up once for a bathroom break, sometimes after 6 or 7 hours.
When I was younger I could sleep through a bomb attack, nothing would wake me until I was ready to get up.

You do need to fill in your profile and give us some information about your sleep study and your current AHI and leaks.

I think it depends on lots of factors. I have been on my CPAP for over 3 years but don't sleep straight through the night ever. BUT - I sleep a heck of a lot better than I did before! I don't usually get up anymore, but I wake up 3-4 times a night and roll over, flip my pillow to the cool side and fall right back asleep. That's a huge improvement over where I was - walking up many times a night, getting up, going to the bathroom, taking up to a couple of hours to fall back asleep sometimes, etc.

Forgot to ask in my other post, but any idea how many times a night do you remember waking up? Do you feel like you get good sleep in between or does it feel superficial and/or restless?
