Re: Accident prone (please read please)
Thanks. I didn't realize that.
The EDS is interfering in my life. Given the MSLT was negative and I am apparently in some statistic of 20% of cpap users who don't feel better in the first month (according to the doc), I guess we are going to try and symptom dose the cpap to see if I feel better at a different pressure.
I have another sleep doc appt next week.

"The incidents last week" were letting the bath run over accidentally while you were pretty busy and the hairbrush accident, right?Punchyandtired wrote:Now my mother has jumped into the fray now:
Mom: "do you think you need to see a psychologist to help deal with the problems in your life?"
Me: "what are the problems in my life?"
Mom: "you know... The incidents last week..."
BTW, i have sleep doc's permission to crank up pressure to see if I'm still somehow underpressured.....
I forget things and have minor accidents quite regularly. Yesterday as an example, I hit my hand with a hammer and later on the same job stuck a screwdriver in the same hand. On the same day I probably had to walk back up or down the stairs 3 or 4 times due to forgetting what I went for in the first place when I got there. That's in a normal day, you had two "incidents" in a week?! I wouldn't say that on it's own is a symptom of alzheimers or of sleep apnea. I think they are just symptoms of being human.
Good luck with getting the pressure right, you've come to the right place for help with that. There are quite a few super-helpful and super-knowledgeable people here. They've been a great help to me and I'm sure they will be to you as well.

Re: Accident prone (please read please)
Thank you, Pete, for telling me that.
Oh, I agree. This has been a tremendous resource to me. I sincerely thank everyone for their time and helpfulness. You all really give me hope that this will in some way work out.
Does anyone see any harm in my putting the cpap on 16 min tonight? Is there any real danger in this? Thanks.

Re: Accident prone (please read please)
Personally, I'd increase more gradually than that.
When I first started with sleepyhead and advice from here I was also hoping to find the magic pressure settings straight away. Since then I've realised it's more of a long term process as each time I change the pressure it takes a while for me to get used to it. So I'm just changing it a little at a time and keeping an eye on the graphs and asking for advice here when I need it.
I'm sorry to repeat this but if you want good answers from the really experienced people here, you're probably going to have to post some screenshots of sleepyhead graphs/data.
Good luck!

Re: Accident prone (please read please)
My psych gave me one of those prescription cards for Nuvigil to try for a month to see if that helps.

Hi, yes 16 is a bit high even as a non-conservative trial. More things need to be figured out before just going there.

I followed the directions exactly on how to post screen shots from sleepy head. If they are still too blurry then i dont know what else to do. That's it. Thanks.
(I did large thumbnails and all...)

No clue what they mean but if I click on your images they open in another window and then I click that image and it opens full screen, nice and clear!
Morbius, are you bored?

Re: Accident prone (please read please)
BTW, I had psych appt today since sleep doc wants me off ambien and I have been off zoloft and the adderall hasnt worked in months. He switched me to 25 mg evavil for sleep aid (its a very mild antidepressant-- esp 25 mg-- and has a sleep inducing effect), so that takes care of sleep and mood for now. I've been on Ambien for 4 years and was afraid to just quit-- I have heard horror stories....
He also wants me to try Nuvigil for a month for daytime wakefulness but it is unclear right now if blue cross is going to play along. It needs a PA. If it isn't approved, they will prescribe Provigil generic which I will pay out of pocket for one month-- $350.00.
