Re: My Bi-Pap broke and no Insurance. What are my options?

Sounds like you need a new blower. Send it off and get it repaired. It will probably be around $200.

Do you have a back up machine? If you have a system one cpap (your typical starter machine) use that.

If you want a brand new bipap machine and have about $1600, I could get you one.

Re: Mold or bacteria issues inside CPAP machine?

You can assume that the mold spores in the air in your house is high. Depending on the filters on your machine your machine will clean the air to some degree. You might want to make a bigger filter that would come from an air cleaning machine (Hepa type filter) that would be the intake filter for th...

Re: Does CPAP cause congestion?

Right now I am a long time user of the Oxymetazoline hydrochloride Afrin type nasal spray. I've been using it for several months. I do get the mild rebound congestion during the day but when used at nights for sleep it does work and seems to work very well. I don't know what some people mean by addi...

Re: Does CPAP cause congestion?

Yes, it will cause the nasal passages to swell causing congestion. Use an afrin type nasal spray 1/2 hour before bed time.(Oxymetazoline hydrochloride is one version and is affordable) Its good for about 9 hours. Your nose is likely already restricted but the cpap justs adds that extra irratation th...

Re: Does sleep apnea manifest suddenly?

I explained my symptoms to another doctor today who suggested it's acute anxiety, 12x5mg Diazepam and Propanolol to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for all your input, it's comforting to hear from others who have been in similar situations. The diazepam will make your breathing problems worse....

Re: Does sleep apnea manifest suddenly?

What was the skin rash and what did they give you as meds for it? Are you on any medications now are recently in the past few months? Certain medication will affect your breathing. How well can you breath through your nose. I will assume you can't as you struggle for air as soon as you dose off. Do ...

Re: Nightmares

Your cpap treatment is not working very well. Start troubleshooting what is going wrong. The spider thing is a natural fear programmed in people. The spider thing on your face should bring you out of sleep to wake you up and get your attention. Well it got your attention. Did you wake up and tear th...

Re: Need help for 11 year old who can't keep mask on

What is the health status of your son? Is he overweight? Is he healthy? Does he have allergies or a cold? Is he autistic? Is he on any medications? How low does his O2 drop before he wakes up panicked WITHOUT the cpap? Get a pulse oximeter and record it. Use the ones that allow for a disposable fing...

Re: Odd Question About CPAP Dreaming

The dreams you get from O2 depletion are death themed or anything else that wil scare you. Some call them nightmares. People that don't use cpap and are getting nightmares and death themed dreams are usually having some kind of breathing problem.

Re: Odd Question About CPAP Dreaming

I am sure that there is more than one formula for dreaming. O2 depletion is only one of them. Mental instability is another one that enhances the vivid dreams. If you get hallucinations while awake, then the dreams can become vivid. Things like degenerative brain diseases and chemical imbalances wil...

Re: Odd Question About CPAP Dreaming

Borgready, That information you posted is pure garbage - that's the only way to say it. Not only is it unfounded, but I have personal experience as well. I supplement my cpap with O2 and monitor my O2 levels every night - no dips below 90' average is 93 percent, and I have Vivid dreams that I can r...

Re: Odd Question About CPAP Dreaming

Lol My Kindle corrects CPAP to crap all the time. Kind of fitting considering how horrible my first mask was! =) I'm loving these dreams, I used to get ideas from dreams all the time for characters/places/plots for my writing. Can't remember when I remembered dreams from two nights in a row! Yeah t...
