ResMed S9 VPAP Climate Control questions!on

Post by VPAP » Tue Mar 03, 2015 8:22 am

Hello everybody. I have a question. As you know from previous posts from me if you have seen them, I will be getting a ClimateLine Heated wire Circuit since I have a ResMed S9 VPAP! I was fooling around in the clinician's menu today, (YES, I know how to get in there, and I DO THIS EVERY SINGLE DAY, AND WILL CONFESS TO IT) And, will do it again, and again while I have a ResMed PAP therapy device, but I was looking around where you can change the Climate Control settings, and I have seen, that there are three modes. There is a mode labeled, "Patient," a mode labeled "Manual," and a mode labeled Automatic, I believe. I believe THAT aUTOMATIC MEANS THAT ONLY THE TEMPERATURE CAN BE CONTROLLED i think. tHE OTHER TWO MODES. cOULD YOU DESCRIBE EACH OTHER TWO MODES TO ME? i AM GOING TO WANT THE MODE WHERE i CAN CONTROL NOT ONLY THE set TEMPERATURE, but, WHERE YOU CAN CONTROL THE set humidity. I'm going to want, MAXIMUM CONTROL! I know that this is a lot of questions, but I really want a good detailed description of each Climate Control mode setting. Thank you very much for understanding. I LOOOOOOOVE humidity with the way my nose is and my airways, I GET DRY VERY easy. I am very different from my parents beliefs. They think that having my Humidifier, the one to humidify my room, setting up at maximum setting where its fogging and nice and moist, they think that this is bad. They think too much humidity is bad. i like my room at around 60-70% humidity, and my temperature is usually kept above 75 degrees. They HATE that, but My belief is that the warmer and more humidity I have the easier on my nose and airways it will be. I've put water in a microwave before I put it into my PAP humidifier, and I like to get the temperature up to around 160 degrees, and then I like to breathe that throughmy CPAP humidifier. That feels indescribably wonderful to my nose. SO NO DOUBT, when I do manage to get this ClimateLine circuit, I'm most certainly going to want MAXIMUM CONTROL!

Ok, calm down, Hoss...you seem excitable. Set it to manual. On the main screen, you can then control temp and humidity separately.
Auto keeps humidity level around 80%, if I'm properly recalling the info PR offered...so, regardless of temp, humidity is always the same. Not sure on patient offhand. Probably the clinician menu says what it does.

I am calm. Yes, Iam very excited, because this ResMed humidifier without the ClimateLine circuit is really making my nose dry. I have cranial Facial anomolies, and my left nostril is less than the size of a Newborn baby's nostril. I have trouble clearing my secretions already with Neuromuscular deterioration, and so I insert a tube down there to help clear my nose. I have had over 60 operations to help reconstruct my face, and many other surgeries and I have a feeding tube. I cannot swallow, so I cannot drink or eat except through this tube that is inserted into my stomach. My mouth and nose are dry no doubt EVERY single morning. I LOOVE Humidity. I am calm, but I must say, that I want you to know how much I appreciate your reply. I have a question. When I'm on manual Mode, how do I switch the temperature control to the humidity control on my ResMed? Like, I know the water drop is used to control the temperature from what I have seen on YouTube, but what do I do to get to the HUMIDITY Icon, and what does it look like? Your wonderful wonderful help means so much.

There is a brief video tutorial on the S9 machines in the link I've posted below in my signature box. it doesn't specifically mention the S9 VPAP but the climate control functions are exactly the same. If you set climate control to Manual then you will see two icons on your machine's display -- the water drop is humidification and the thermometer is temperature.

I'm confused...what's a climateline circuit? I have a climateline hose, which attaches to the humidifier, but I wonder if you have something more technical than the "basic" setup, maybe?

OOOOOOOPS! OK. I am soooooooooooooooooo sorry. Since I've been in and out of hospitals most of my life, I have been around, on and off ventilators, and I love the medical field. I have studied this stuff all of my life. The hoses in the respiratory field are often referred to as circuits. Even the CPAP andBiPAP machines are often referred to as circuits. If I say to a Dr. or a Nurse, "Go and grab me a ventilator circuit from the drawer over there," I would be asking them to go and get me a hose for a ventilator breathing machine. Due to my life around this equipment, I have habitually called them circuits, because it is what they are called in the hospital. I am so sorry for confusing you. A ClimateLine CIRCUIT is the same thing as the HOSE. So, since you have a ClimateLine HOSE, you have a ClimateLine CIRCUIT! Other things like the hoses to anesthesia machines are often referred to as circuits. I LOVE, the medical field. That is because I've been around equipment all of my life. My first memories in life were of the hospital and the ventilator.

a patient circuit from a ventilator and a cpap hose are somewhat different animals.
