Hello everyone,
I'm Maddy. It took me a year to get my first sleep study in April, 2014. My primary doctor got the results in May and never communicated them to me. I had called to ask and was told everything was normal. At my yearly physical in December I asked again and was finally told of my apnea/hypopnea. She blames the pulmonologist at the lab for not following up with me, and they blame her for the way she ordered the test. I went for CPAP titration in January and the results were faxed to my primary on 1/30. My primary has been unable to get the pulmonologist to schedule an appointment for me, so she is taking charge (finally) and will manage my CPAP use. I'm still waiting on my machine because the first home medical supply company dropped the ball. I Googled them and read all their one star reviews so I found another company that services my area and they are proactive. In the interim, my ability to function as a mother, wife, and business owner has diminished to the point where I'm on Adderall just to get me out of bed, but I'm still exhausted all day. Never reaching N3 sleep is destroying my life. I am hopeful that the CPAP machine will help my sleep architecture and that I don't have an underlying condition causing the complete absence of restorative sleep. Until then, I'm hanging on by a thread. Any advice or commiseration is welcome.

Welcome to the forum.
You may want to take some time and read up on UARS ...Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome
Your AHI and the sleep study makes me very suspicious that you have some UARS component going on. If that is the case be aware that the usual standard for judging therapy effectiveness, which is the overall AHI, may not be the best judge for your case because your AHI is already low. You may need to really factor in how you feel in general once you get started on cpap therapy.
I would strongly recommend that you make sure that you get the new ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet for Her machine...and not just the regular AirSense 10 AutoSet (which is what is recommended in the report)....the reason being that the "For Her" Autoset has a special algorithm which might benefit you...it may not but better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
The regular AirSense 10 Autoset only has 1 mode of apap therapy and the for Her AutoSet has 2 apap modes available. You might benefit from that special apap mode.

Re: Newbie awaiting CPAP
And I suggest you make a specific effort to not sleep on your back or be able to turn onto it overnight (pillows in behind, etc.) because you may just have 'positional' apnea, the kind that just about goes away when you sleep on your side or front and then does not necessarily need Cpap at all. Do look into the UARS as suggested, but also consider trying what I mentioned.
