swallowing air....

Post by DaveL » Mon Feb 23, 2015 12:00 pm

I do this sometimes...I am compliant. 15 or so years....pressure is 11. I cope, but haven't found a cure.

A new cpap user ishaving troubles. He was diagnosed about 2 years ago; has had 3 machines. he stopped using his. His diagnosis was 103 events an hour. His pressure is just shy of 20...

What hve you done to resolve this problem, of swallowing air from cpap machines?

A lot more info would be needed to know what's going on... when you say 'swallowing air', are you referring to a conscious (awake) event or something you're assuming is happening due to either a bloated feeling or possibly results on software, and it would help very much to know what machine you use, what mask, etc. etc. There's something called aerophagia - do a search on the forum and see what others have experienced and tried, but your description is not enough to speculate from.

And has your friend stopped Cpap because of the same problem, or other things (for which you've given zero info.)?

Your sleep doctor is just trying to fulfil conditions of your insurance co... they are 'from hell', not him.

But I have no idea what you mean about 'he has just been caught' and (yet?) has not been compliant for a year. Was he on Cpap and noncompliant, or was he not just diagnosed? You really are not very forthcoming with info so we are having some trouble helping.

Find out what machine he has.

Some sort of pressure relief may help. ResMed has EPR, Respironics has Flex. Sometimes you need a bilevel machine (BiPAP, VPAP, etc.)

There's a youtube video about aerophagia in the useful links in my signature line below that helps some people.

I'm sorry. I don't know much about cpap therapy or equipment. I live in Ontario Canada our environment is different than yours.
I am allowed a basic cpap machine. that's all.

perhaps I should look elsewhere.

Take care
Dave

Your S9 Elite is not a "basic machine". It produces full data.
Download Sleepyhead, and you will see how awesome your machine is!

I only have a Mac ccomputer. I shall see if it works with that

I discussed self-interpretation with my sleep doc

He accused me of practicing medicine without a license

I had had my card read by my DME and took it in to him. He refused to look at the data

I have been compliant for 15 years

go here: http://apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-press ... tup-manual scroll down to section 3, there's instructions on how to get the clinicians manual via email.
