PR ASV auto "OFF" feature?

Post by photonic » Wed Feb 25, 2015 9:42 pm

Does the PR System One REMStar 60 Series BiPAP autoSV Advanced have an auto "OFF" feature. I cannot find one anywhere but thought I would make a last check on this here in case I have overlooked something.

I use the auto "ON" feature since I have fallen asleep with mask on a few times before I have pushed the button.

Thanks!

Can't say for the ASV as I don't have a manual but the one I do have a manual for the BiPap Auto with Bi-Flex shows in the clinicians settings both an auto on and auto off setting. I would guess the ASV has that as well if it has the Auto On. Hopefully someone has the manual to tell for sure.

There is no Auto Off available in the 960 model as far as I can tell.
The manual I have shows Auto On but does not show Auto Off and I think that this was discussed here a few months ago.

No auto off on the 950 or 960 ASV's. Why not? Well, one of the main functions of the ASV is to trigger breaths when you aren't spontaneously breathing. Auto Off would most likely interfere with this important function or cause more machine complexity than it is worth. If you aren't breathing, the last thing you want is your ASV to shut off.

it's more likely that they omitted auto off in favor of the optional alarms, the resmed disables auto off if the leak alert feature is turned on, however, turn that alarm off, and auto on/off is available. (another little nitpicky preference for resmed, in my book)

the machine can *easily* tell the difference between not breathing and maskoff, simply due to the pressure in the line.
