MyAir and Fitbit Accuracy

There is always a huge difference between hours slept between the MyAir software and my Fitbit. The MyAir always shows more time—like hours more than the Fitbit which seems more accurate. I don’t wear my mask if I’m not sleeping so I don’t understand why there is always a difference. Any ideas?

My air only records the amount of time the machine is running. It does not know if you are asleep or not. Your fitbit supposedly knows when you are actually sleeping and only reports the time it thinks you are sleeping.

Why is there a huge difference in the amount of time between my Fitbit and MyAir?
Like two hours more on my machine. I don’t run my machine unless I’m planning to sleep (don’t use it to watch tv, etc).

Why would there be such a discrepancy?

Years ago, I was able to use a Misfit tracker and Zeo at the same time,
and found the results to be fairly consistent.
I tend to not trust fitbit as much as either.
Too much hype .

So, do you think MyAir is accurate regarding length of sleep?

When you go to bed and turn on the machine, look at the time.
When you get up and turn the machine off, look at the time.
Do a little math to calculate the hours and minutes.

Compare what MyAir says against what you calculated.

When your machine is on, it is logging hours which are recorded as sleep. As mentioned above, the machine doesn't know whether you are asleep or not, only that it is blowing.
Your Fitbit tries to calculate the time you are actually asleep. It might log some restless sleep as awake.
Actual sleep time will always be less than what the machine says. It takes some time to fall asleep and some time awake before turning the machine off, but the machine is blowing and that is what is reported.
The Fitbit is primarily measuring activity. I have doubts as to its accuracy in determining actual sleep stages.

For reference here is an image of my sleep report from Fitbit ionic and the results of an actual sleep study for the same night. You could have a big difference depending on how long it took you to fall asleep and for the Fitbit to recognize that, then you also have to add the time it said you were awake to your actual sleep time and I bet it would be pretty close to matching up with myair.
