NASAL MASKS

Post by cajunlin47 » Mon Oct 24, 2016 8:45 pm

I am using a full face mask because the company I bought the machine from said since I breathe through my mouth I have to use a full face mask. I've been using it for two weeks now and I don't like it at all. It's the F&P Simplus. I know everyone says it's a good one, but it leaks so much. And I have the straps tight and then loose, and tight and then loose. Nothing works. And it keeps me up. When I had my sleep study I had the nasal one, the RESMED Mirgage FX and they let me keep it. But I'm wondering if I should switch to it. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to get used to it if it's not going to do any good to use it. I do notice that I am breathing more through my nose.

Any suggestions? Thank you!

First, please register on the forum. When you register, please make sure to include what equipment you're using.

Since sounds like you're a new CPAP user, you probably have a recent vintage machine.

The answer is that there is no standard "one size fits all" answer. Therefore, I would suggest trying this mask, see if you like it better than the other, and see if your stats are as good or better than on the other mask.

That having been said, nasal mask patients generally have fewer compliance issues than nose/mouth mask patients.

Try the Resmed F10 full face mask... I went from the Simplus to the F10 years ago and never looked back. That said, it's all up to individual preferences.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

You could always try mirage fx and use a chin strap if you're still breathing through your mouth. Have you looked at a hybrid like the Amara view? It's less bulky than most full face masks.

Try this nasal mask with a chinstrap:

It is similar to the Mirage FX but has a forehead stop.

someone with a functioning brain would say what mask it is, instead of posting pictures and making people guess.
