Up loading new software

Post by Broken Bob » Thu Nov 06, 2014 6:07 am

I have been plugging along, fat, dumb and happy, downloading my machine to 0.9.3 software that I installed way back when I first learned of Sleepyhead and this chat room. I have only recently returned to the chat room after a long absence. I saw that Sleepy head is now at 0.9.8.1. I tried downloading this without success. Will I need to load previous upgrades first? Will I be able to overwrite the 9.3 and retain my history? I am using Windows 7 Home Premium. Before you all scold me to much, I have updated my profile to be notified of future upgrades. Thanks in advance for the responses I know will come. This is a great site!

Version 0.9.8-1 won't change 0.9.3 at all. It won't overwrite anything because it is a totally different version.

You don't need prior versions.

0.9.8-1 doesn't have an installer though. So you can't do a regular install like you did with 0.9.3.
Instead you have to unzip and then go into the unzipped folder and find the application.exe file (it's either the last one or the next to the last one in the list) and click on it to open SleepyHead. I usually suggest to people that while there that they right click their mouse on that file and create a shortcut so they don't have to go into the folder each time they want to open SleepyHead.

Oh....you need a different zip/unzip program called 7 zip to unzip the newest SH version.
It's mentioned at where you get the download.

your card should have data for at least the last year to be imported into SH.

you can try getting 0.9.6 from sleepfiles.com/SH and upgrading to that, then upgrading to 0.9.8-1 if you want older history.

when you say you tried "downloading without success" what does that mean?

Pugsy
Thanks for your reply-I will give it a try.
Palerider-The 9.8 downloaded to my desktop but I could not find the exe. file or any file to install. Hopefully with Pugsy's information I will be successful.

it's distributed as a 7zip archive (ends in 7z) because it's a good bit smaller than a zip file... so it saves on mark's upload time, and your download time

I get "The program can't start because Qt5Core.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." So, what is my problem?

Exactly which version are you trying to install?
Did you get it unzipped? It has to be unzipped with 7Zip as the regular Windows unzipper won't do it. Then you click on the application.exe file after things are unzipped.
What operating system does your computer have and is it 32 or 64 bit?

I think his error is usually caused by trying to run things out of the zip file without extracting it first.

Right, that was the first error I kept getting when I kept trying to open in the zip file. I could see it was in the file and I was stumped. But a helpful soul here pointed out that it had to be extracted to a different file before you could open it. Once I opened the extracted file that's when I found out I needed the other file downloaded from windows. Finally all was running fine.

"Exactly which version are you trying to install?" I have Windows 7 Ultimate and I was loading the newer beta version for the 64 bit system. It said for the AirCurve 10 VAuto machine. I did download the zipper you mentioned. It appears somewhere in the downloading I got the file Talika search engine which installed a lot of junk. I did get the file with the zip mentioned and got it loaded. However on a reboot, my screen would go black. I had to go back to safe mode and go in and remove all the junk which still didn't fix it. So, I had to do a system restore going back to Jan. 30, 2015. Don't suppose I lost to much but I did lose the SleepyHead software. It then booted ok. I went in and removed all the junk files loaded. Now, maybe I will go for the Resmed 5.3? Can you run the SD card info in it? Thanks for the responses. I wasn't able to read them until now.
