filthy filters
Re: filthy filters
After some decent results the night before, last night I used a new white reusable filter, right side in this time, and a clean black foam filter and again there was a black circle on the white filter. I will call Lincare today to see if they have any answers.

Better call a person to see to your air quality your home. It is the air coming in that is the problem.Backdownatsealevel wrote:After some decent results the night before, last night I used a new white reusable filter, right side in this time, and a clean black foam filter and again there was a black circle on the white filter. Agreed about having your home air evaluated. That soot is coming from somewhere, and you are breathing it.
I use an MERV 13 class filter in my furnace and after a month my white filter looks like new (and yes, I am sure it is installed correctly), so my air is apparently fairly clean from my main furnace filter.
I replace the white filter every month anyway since that is what is recommended.

Re: filthy filters
I think the black filter was faulty. I replaced it with another black filter I had used previously and it felt different. The new (bad) one was very rough and coarse and the older one was soft and smoother. So, I have been using the soft black filter and have had no similar problems with the white filter getting so dirty. I get my new 6 month filter from Lincare in February so will see how the new one does.
