Second night using Airfit P10 and wow
Second night using Airfit P10 and wow
So I've been on cpap for about two weeks now and I really wish my DME would have given me a P10 to start with instead of the Wisp. I've struggled for the past two weeks with trying to get that darn Wisp to stop leaking and it was really wearing me out at night. I finally ended up buying myself the P10 after reading so many good things about it and had a good night's sleep and my first day of feeling like a human being in at least five years. The only thing I'm wondering is how long it takes for one's nose to toughen up, it's pretty sore from the pillows just inside my nasal openings.

Best idea is to swap masks back and forth until your nose toughens up.
Pad a cheek makes a liner for the Wisp, which might help silence the maddening leak-fest.
A thin film of Lansinoh will help prevent sores inside your nose.
The key is prevention, don't let sores get started.

I'm on my second one. Things really get better after the second week. The gear expands a little, making everything perfect. You can speed things up if you are taking naps. Use the gear....it gets better. My first one is now being used for naps and the second is for nights.Logies101 wrote:So I've been on cpap for about two weeks now and I really wish my DME would have given me a P10 to start with instead of the Wisp. Thank you for that info Chunkyfrog and Pesser, I'll get the liners and the cream, just so happy to have these P10's, I feel like I get so much more air with them and they don't knock out of place when I turn on my side. Great to know things get even better on the 2nd week. Only thing left will be to solve the mouth opening during the night. I actually made myself a chin strap tonight as the one from the DME was a single strap that slipped while sleeping making it of no use whatsoever.
I've learned so much from everyone here, very grateful for this forum.

With the P10 I find it's best to use the largest pillows you can - they move and rub a lot less then and give great air flow.

Re: Second night using Airfit P10 and wow
That's very good advice that englandsf gave about using larger pillows. I also use the P10 every night (just started CPAP on 12/9) and I changed to medium pillows about a week ago after receiving the same advice from him. I was fitted with small pillows in the sleep lab, but medium work a lot better. They move around a lot less and the holes are slightly larger, so I can breathe a lot better.
Lansinoh works wonders. I put some on right before I mask up at night and again right when I get up in the morning.
Also, I sleep with the Snoogle pregnancy pillow (NOT pregnant) and not only does it keep me sleeping on my side, but the top of the pillow wraps around my neck and under my chin, which keeps my mouth closed.
Good luck!

Thanks Minky - I am beyond hooked on my P10s now. I have two identical S9 set ups, one for travel, each with P10 pillows. Even with my big fat head I get great leak rates with the two straps wide apart on top and back of my head. Wish I could get rid of the subtle groove it leaves in my very short hair though!

Thanks enlandsf and minky, I'll test run a different size tonight to see how it goes. That pregnancy pillow sounds awesome, by the time I get all the stuff I need to get a good night's sleep I'll be broke haha, oh well, whatever it takes. But yeah those P10's are amazing!

I made a chin strap that doesn't slip, it worked great last night.

I dunno...I can breath through my mouth even with my teeth clenched. I wish you the best in learning to breath through the nose at night, but a chin strap may or may not get it. (this post is inspired by the goofy Golden Retriever avatar). Speaking of Goldens, have you ever seen what happens when you blow air in their noses?

Hey now, that 'goofy' golden retriever avatar is my own sweet canine, and an awesome dog he is, even if he does have a big ol' nose

I notice there is a mesh diffuser on this like on the Eson. I am assuming those have to be changed? On the Eson you can leave them off and just have noisier air flow. Is it the same with this mask?

some people have reported it getting clogged up, though I'm not sure what they were doing, maybe cleaning it improperly. I don't clean mine, and it's fine. resmed suggests scrubbing it gently with a brush and hot water.
