Compliance Data

Post by Logies101 » Fri Dec 26, 2014 12:26 pm

I'm still in my 90 day period monitoring for insurance to pay for my cpap machine and I have a couple of questions. I know that I have to use the machine for at least 4 hours per night on 70% of nights during a consecutive 30 days anytime during the first 3 months of initial usage to be in compliance. So lets say I turn the machine on and go to bed and turn it off 3 hours later to use the restroom, does it start the 4 hours over again. In other words does the machine recognize the need for bathroom breaks? lol.

Also if I take the mask off before turning off the machine is that interpreted as a leak? I hate the feeling of being without air if I turn the machine off before removing my mask.

It's too bad there is not a pause button, we all need to go once and a while, I will say since I started cpap I don't need to go as often , It's usually the dog that wakes me .

When going to the restroom at night turning off you machine then starting it back up does not reset your time on the machine. I shut mine off before I remove my nose pillows. Yes it would show leaks. Read your machine manual and it will tell you how to get your data daily or download pap software (ResScan or Sleepyhead) and use your SD card to download your machine information into the software. Great instructions for Sleepyhead follow this link

Almost positive it's reported as total hours for the night. That's how the machine reports it if you look at the summary data- at least mine.

I'll sometimes unconsciously remove the mask during the night, realize it a few minutes/hours later, and put it back on. As long as I've accumulated more than four hours total time, my machine still reports it as a compliant night. I think there was one night out of the last month+ where I disagreed with it, but that was a goofy night where I took the mask off multiple times and had huge gaps through the night. You will be just fine taking a bathroom break.

Yes it would report a leak if you remove your mask before turning the machine off, but not for very long, and that's not a big deal. Do whatever is most comfortable for you. I'm usually removing the mask as I'm turning the machine off - I hit the off button as I'm finishing an inhale (so I'm still getting full pressure in), then pull the mask off as I'm breathing out. By the time I breath in again, I'm on room air and not trying to breath in against idle machinery.

The S9 records all sessions between 12 noon to 11:59 AM the next day as the same day. If you go to bed at 9PM on the 9th or you wait and go to bed at 2AM on the 10th, the S9 will record them both as being on the 9th. It reports the cumulative time for that 24 hour period. I hope this helps.

Last night I turned the machine off to let the dog out. Came right back to bed and put the mask back on. However this morning the data only shows up to the point where I stopped. (12:15 am to 3:30 am) The rest of the night is not there. Any ideas?

You probably never turned the machine back on after you let the dog out.

due to the arrangement of headboard and side table, the power button is elusive, so I'm quite happy to have the machine turn itself off
