nose and forehead marks

Post by eddieg » Wed Dec 24, 2014 9:36 am

I have been using a full face mask for a couple of years. Lately I have been getting red marks on the bridge of my nose and an imprint of the mask on my forehead. My pressure is very high so the mask is on tight but this wasn't a problem until a couple of months ago. Anyone else experience this?

Have you gained weight? It's surprising how fast it shows up in your face... but in any case, google Padacheek.com and see if anything there appeals to you (the designer's a member here and lots of us use her liners). Plus try loosening the straps - they can create new leaks if too tight.

How often do you change your cushion or headgear?
Worn out cushions may not seal as well, and may even absorb skin irritants.
Old headgear will lose elasticity, resulting in difficulty fitting, without tightening to the point of injury.
High pressures will speed the deterioration of headgear.

My chin strap used to leave an imprint across my cheek each morning. I didn't want to spend over $18 for the online strap pads. What worked great was cutting two 5x9 inch pieces from a cotton tee shirt and wrapping around each strap 4 times... then secure on the outside with fabric glue.
