Re: How is possible to have a great night on paper and still feel like garbage?

The problem is I know turning it [EPR] off is going to lead to higher flow limitations and required pressure and with that comes the aerophagia. What do you think? EPR lowers the overall effective or average pressure. I see how turning it off will increase the average pressure which will tend to in...

Re: extremely low tidal volume

Tidal Volume is the volume of each breath. Your erroneous respiration rate is high because each breath is being counted as more than one smaller breath. These erroneous smaller breaths each have less volume than the correct whole breath; therefore, the reported Tidal Volume for each breath is smalle...

Re: chinstrap headache debate update?

The chipmunk cheek thing is from the lips being shut and air expanding the cheeks. :) Yes, I understand the phenomenon very well. I don't disagree with your analysis, except that, IMO, most people who use FFM tend to exhale through their mouths (mouth breathe), which precludes Chipmunk Cheeks from ...

Re: chinstrap headache debate update?

And like I said using a full face mask won't necessarily stop the annoying puffer fish cheek syndrome anyway. So dealing with a FFM that you don't really like and causes problems itself is no guarantee you won't just be either adding to your problems or swapping problems. No guarantee, but I never ...

Re: chinstrap headache debate update?

I can tape, scunci, chin strap, collar, whatever, but it doesn't stop my mouth from blowing up like a blow fish. Is it the FFM life for me? A FFM might be the best solution. The latest generation seems much better than they were just a few years ago. Lighter, smaller, less cumbersome. Different cus...

Re: chinstrap headache debate update?

Chin straps are not very effective because they tend to pull the chin backward which tends to exacerbate obstructive apnea. Even if the jaw is held tightly closed against the teeth, one can still exhale through the teeth and between the lips. Certain straps around the back of my head tend to give me...

Re: Did I Get Ripped Off?

You didn't answer the questions above about insurance. If your insurance company paid, they didn't pay the "billed" amount, but something far less. If you paid the full amount solely out of pocket, then, yes, you got ripped off.

Re: ResMed apnea type CA/OA recognition problem

OK, so here's my opinion: Each of the events or chain of events depicted in the examples above begin with what looks like a disturbance indicating a possible arousal. These disturbances occur at 2:21:00, 04:03:18 and 07:03:58. Also associated with each disturbance and event is a small amount of leak...

Re: ResMed apnea type CA/OA recognition problem

It would be helpful if you posted an overview which included these charts in the future so we can see what's going on. Events Flow rate Pressure Flow Limitation Leaks I asked for your Flow Limitation chart to be included to see if Flow Limitations were driving your pressure up. I cut and pasted your...

Re: ResMed apnea type CA/OA recognition problem

I was scared when I saw the results that night, it's not easy to ignore Many people are scared when they CA's. I guess it's something about it being "central" which seemingly implies there is something wrong with the brain, I guess. In reality, most centrals we see here are post arousal and are jus...

Re: Mouth breathing

Well, at least it's done. On a positive note, most people have trouble judging how much they've slept and many think they have not slept enough during a sleep test, yet they have. So, there's hope there.
Do you have a follow up scheduled yet?

Re: ResMed apnea type CA/OA recognition problem

I also think that the reason may be a mistake with FOT. I did not know about it. Central always appeared to me mainly in the morning. Now I have to decide whether to reduce the pressure ... or maybe it should be even greater. ;-) Or, perhaps you should just ignore them. Arousals in the morning and ...
