wow, that's pretty damning for the concept of degrees, and IT people... I feel a bit insulted.KSMike wrote:I've spent the last 29 years of my life in IT - from developer to analyst to management in numerous capacities. I have degrees in business and IT. I hope you try it out in the daytime too.
The fact your doc made the Rx for 24/7 worries me a bit if you are only using O2 at night.
At least you can confirm either your opinion or his--and act accordingly.

Re: Anyone with o2 Supplement..... my goal is to get rid of this
Hey there, BMC23..... Just got on the board in forever and saw your post. I will tell you my experience. Initially, over 4 years ago, I was diagnosed with "off the charts" OSA, with hypoxemia ( decreased oxygen levels ) as well. I have the apnea thing pretty well controlled by now, but the oxygen is a tad different. I was using 2 ltrs of oxygen for several years, then, after another overnight study, the doc tells me to increase it to 3. Another study, increase it to 4. Last overnight was in May of this year and voila - increase it to 5 ltrs. I talked to my doc who explained that when I enter my REM mode of sleep, I am desaturating significantly and staying there long enough to warrant the increased oxygen supplementation. Mind you, I do not have COPD, rather, I have "restrictive lung disease". Also, I had pulmonary embolisms right before my diagnosis, which they think accelerated the OSA. I asked the doc if I could ever wean myself off of the oxygen and she said yes. It is possible to rid myself of the oxygen, but most likely, my CPAP is my bed mate for life. Over the last two years, I have managed to lose 70 pounds, but my numbers don't show it yet. Use your oxygen until such time that your numbers have improved. I hate it as well, but I do want to live and I hate cellular death.

Re: Anyone with o2 Supplement..... my goal is to get rid of this
Thanks so much for your reply Alicia .... it's given me lots of thoughts to follow through especially regarding the desaturations that I too have. I had a pretty quick dx for COPD & need to get these lungs looked by a specialist - want to understand better about these tidal volumes. Just had a ECHO bubble study done where they were looking for a PFO....I think I did ok. And I am remembering a few DYI projects I did where I wish I had protected a bit more. Anyway I am using the o2 at night at least - I have just transitioned to a new airCurve 10 VAUTO - nite #2 far better than nite #1. Still doing fine tweaks to the humidity..... I just want cool air and I'll be gone before the ramp. Thanks for encouraging me....
