Airsense 10 large power draw

Post by CapnLoki » Sat Dec 20, 2014 8:59 am

I know this has been mentioned before, but I was startled when I looked closely at the new ResMed Battery Guide:
http://www.resmed.com/us/dam/documents/ ... lo_eng.pdf
A S9 Autoset at pressure 10, no humidity or heated hose, uses 0.55 Amps, or 4.4 AmpHours. (This is perhaps slightly more than my PRS1 560.) The new Airsense 10 Autoset uses 0.93 Amps, or 7.44 AmpHours, or almost 70% more. This means that any backup or travel battery would have to be 70% bigger (and 70% heavier) to power the A10. (Or, to put it another way, an S9 would run 70% longer on the same battery.)

The difference is reduced as you add in the humidifier and ClimateLine hose since the heating load dominates the pump, and I think the settings have different meanings so its hard to compare. But for anyone looking to maximize battery life by doing without humidity, the S9 is a clear winner over the A10.
