Hello All -
Hoping someone can give me some ideas...
I have the ResMed Escape II (S8).
I would like to take it backpacking - I'm talking about hiking 2-10 miles and then camping - so not car camping.
I've been car camping and I have a great 12v dc deep cycle battery, the ResMed DC-12 converter and battery tender for that - but it weighs 50#+.
Works excellent and can power a CPAP and a 12v fan for 3+ nights - but just not possible to carry for 2+ miles.
I purchased the PowerAdd Pilot Pro 32000mAh Monster Capacity Multi-Voltage (5V 9V 12V 16V 19V 20V) Portable Charger:
http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D ... UTF8&psc=1
SPECS:
--Battery Type: Lithium-ion Polymer
--Capacity: 32000mAh/118.4Wh
--Output1: DC 9V,12V,16V,19V,20V/4.5A
It was referenced to work here by Adant33 (but not with a ResMed):

So, I did my best attempt to solder a connection from the PowerAdd to a 12v dc cigarette lighter (female).
I then plugged in the ResMed DC-12 (https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... hines.html ) that I use for the deep cycle battery.
It works - but if I let it freeflow - it runs for an hour before it gets to 0% remaining in the PowerAdd battery.
I then recharged the PowerAdd to 100% and buried the mask under a pillow. After an hour it was at 88% full - meaning I *might* get 8 hours out of it (I'll test it for real tonight).
Sooo... My thoughts are:
If the PowerAdd is at 12v dc, can I safely direct connect the PowerAdd to the S8 (switching polarities, so that the tip is negative and the barrel is positive)?
I would think that would be more efficient than using the DC 12, but it might harm the S8...
I have a backup CPAP that I use for travel - it does not have a dc port - but if I crash the S8, I'm still ok.
If I can't get the S8 to work, I'll get the cheapest "straight-thru" dc CPAP I can find for backpacking - maybe the IntelliPAP:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/devilb ... ations-tab
I'd rather not spend $325 on a third CPAP, but it will be worth it if I can go hiking.
If I'm going to spend the $325 anyway, I might as well try to get the S8 working - even if it does break it. If it breaks, I buy the IntelliPAP and I still have 2 CPAPs.
Thoughts?
Suggestions?

Tried the PowerAdd + DC12 + S8 last night - it lasted 4 hours...
Not quite enough for a night of camping.
Still looking for suggestions...

Re: ResMed Escape II S8 and PowerAdd Pilot Pro - attempts
I am also looking for a solution like this for my s8 and camping in Haiti. Any luck on this?
Re: ResMed Escape II S8 and PowerAdd Pilot Pro - attempts
I gave up on the S8, and used my left over FSA to buy a PR System One REMstar 60 Series Plus.
It should get here tomorrow - I'll write up my experience with it.

Hi - I'm curious about your experiment with the PowerAdd battery. Did it work?

nooooooo! send it back! it's crap! it provides NO data, so you'll be walking around in the dark, and will fall into a pit!Finster63 wrote:I gave up on the S8, and used my left over FSA to buy a PR System One REMstar 60 Series Plus.
