I sometimes hate when there are so many choices. I may be willing to buy a few if such rocks can be used to crush mold and its spores successfully. I still like the idea of having SoClean2 solely for containment purposes for I don't want to cause unnecessary harm to the environment. Afterall, it's not mold's fault that it wants to thrive in my house.

Yeah, but the BEST thing to do would be GTF outta that house.

Not through the system, through the humidifier, mask, and hose. No ozone goes through the blower unit.

I wonder whether SoClean2 could be a better(though expensive) container to protect against the exposure or simply wrapping with paper towel would be good enough, when the unit is not running.
There's no need to cover or seal up the CPAP at all. What little moldy air settles on your CPAP equipment during the day is nothing compared to the thousands of liters of air the CPAP is going to pump every night. 2 seconds after you turn the CPAP on, you're breathing moldy room air, although it is filtered through the filters on the back of your CPAP machine. The CPAP is going to pull at least 20 liters of air per minute through the machine. That's over 1000 liters an hour.

Realize that mold, like other "germs," doesn't magically grow and multiply everywhere. It has to have a source of energy and nutrients to reproduce and create new mold. There's little for it to feed on inside a reasonably clean hose or the water tank. Even if you could heat sterilize the tubing, water tank, machine, and mask every day, it's not going to make much difference in what comes out of the hose, and the germs you inhale.

Dump the water out of your tank every morning, and use distilled water if you can.

CPAP machines don't magically multiply germs and pump them into your body. A CPAP user is, in general, not going to be breathing more germs than a non-apneac breathing the room air. Also realize that you're the only person using this particular CPAP machine. It's not like medical equipment in a hospital where you have an extra need to kill germs because you have multiple people using the same equipment.

Keep the equipment reasonably clean, but heroic measures aren't needed. If you want to be paranoid, get some Control III disinfectant from our host, cpap.com, read the and follow the directions and sanitize everything every so often.

Well, of course the problem with the "analysis" is that it didn't have a control showing the disinfection efficacy of soap-and-water.

Disinfection--soap; isn't that the reason we buy soap?

Well, that's certainly why I buy soap. And white vinegar. Well, I use it for cooking, too. Not the soap. Just the vinegar.

I just don't get the whole SoClean thing. I suppose if you SoCleaned your whole house including the heating/cooling systems and ductwork, your fireplace, the air coming in thru the windows etc etc... then you'd be able to make a case for SoClean. As it stands, I don't think this technology is doing much other than providing a mild psychological comfort - not a ridiculous thing, however at the price, I think that money that could generally be spent elsewhere. Just my off the wall opinion.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
