Pad A Cheek - questions

Post by EmilySleeps » Fri Dec 19, 2014 2:29 pm

I learned about Pad A Cheek on this board - what a great company! I purchased the pads for the Swift Bella FX ear loops. They are great, but I've switched to the Swift FX over the head gear and now I'm going to order the strap pads for it. I'm also considering ordering a barrel cozy and hose cover, and my questions are: 1) has anyone used the Pad A Cheek Barrel Cozies for Swift Fx and, if so, your reaction to them and also whether they would be "too much" along with the strap pads? and 2) has anyone used the Zippered Micro Fleece Hose Covers, and if so, your reaction and also whether they help keep the air warmer? Many thanks!

Emily

I use basic padacheek fuzzy cheek covers. Barrel cozy in addition would be a bit much, I think. Also, it's not difficult, and a lot cheaper to sew your own hose cover, minus the zipper. Fleece works well. I use one on regular or heated hoses, long enough to cover entire regular hose and most of the smaller hose with the FX.

I use the barrel cozy and strap covers for Swift FX and they make a big difference for me. I can't stand the feel of the plastic against my face; the mask is now much more comfortable. I also don't get red marks on my cheeks anymore. The strap covers do add some bulk, but are very soft.

I use the barrel cozy, the FX straps alternating with the larger fuzzy flannel straps in the winter. All this gear keeps the pillow comfortable and in place. Zero leaks. Three years ago, I struggled with the nasal pillow fitting and irritating my nostrils. Somehow this Pad-a-Check cozy & strap positioned the nasal pillow, coupled with a dab of lanolin ointment, finally made it comfortable. Surgery to remove some cartilage in one of my nostrils was even offered before I made these purchases. Over time, the nose accommodates, especially if you can get comfortable with one mask and stick to it so the brain adapts as well. I wash the cozy with the pillow every day, quite durable, just ordering new ones when I want to change colors!

I use the padacheek strap covers (Karen... I'm about to order another one!). They keep the marks and rashes off my neck... along with providing comfort. They are a great product.

Hey, Sheriff, early on, you gave me the best advise, once you get a good fitting mask, "stick to it like a dog with it's bone" (something like that!)
