Thank you - I'll give it another shot this evening, but in the meantime I'm still planning to call my clinic to see if they have specific recommendations based on other patients' experiences with this model (or want to replace it).chunkyfrog wrote:I found that I have to squeeze the end of the tank considerably harder than I would expect;
however, it seems to get better with daily operation.
I also need to place my other hand firmly on top of the unit and wiggle the tank firmly.
When re-inserting the tank, the "click" is barely audible and quite dull.
The strength and acute hearing required may be need to be considered against future use of the line.
Reservoir Stuck
Re: Reservoir Stuck
Re: Reservoir Stuck
I too experienced a stuck reservoir in my ResMed AutoSense 10. Got mine out eventually. Not sure why it stuck, but hope it doesn't happen again. If so I may have to resort to surgery on the device.
Re: Reservoir Stuck
The tank on the S9 was much easier to handle and could be removed with one hand. On the other hand, the tank on the Autosense 10 is much easier to fill, but I inevitably fire up the machine with the palm of my left hand pressing down on the power switch to hold onto the unit, while I pull out the tank with my right hand.
Re: Reservoir Stuck
As a workaround could the OP not fill the tank by holding the hose upright and using a funnel to pour water into the tank?

What?
Re: Reservoir Stuck
I think the bottom line will be that the OP is just not pulling it apart hard enough, and possibly pushed it in too hard, making it extra tight. There's nothing holding it together but friction. It may be tight because it's new. I'm concerned about how well it will seal after a few years when things loosen up.
Re: Reservoir Stuck
Gang, "OP" here. My post was two years ago, but thanks for the continued advice. The fact is, I brought it into the sleep clinic, and the techs and doctors were unable to get the reservoir out either, no matter how hard they tried. Doesn't really matter at this point why it was stuck. The unit with which they replaced it has performed fine for the past two years.
Happy holidays, all. Stop replying.

I'll have to remember to check the dates from now on! I'm willing to throw cerberus1949 under the bus for dragging this to the top of the forum again yesterday

I think we have all done this at one time or another.JeffL wrote:I'll have to remember to check the dates from now on! :
If you're not part of the solution you're just scumming up the bottom of the beaker!

Re: Reservoir Stuck
I had the same problem. Finally got it loose. I think when i refilled the tank last night I set it down in something slightly sticky and the two metal elements baked themselves together. It seemed like the tank was glued in and not pinned by a part. Try wiggling it side to side. I guess they mean it when they say clean the tank regularly!
Re: Reservoir Stuck
I don't know if it's safe to fill the tank from the nozzle end using a funnel. It depends on the exact model and I'm not familiar with what you have.
Call your DME. If necessary, take the machine to them!

Re: Reservoir Stuck
I have been tempted to drill a hole in the top of the protruding end, and seal that with a cork.
That way, I could add water by simply uncorking the tank, and using a funnel.
I would do this with an old spare, so if I totally foul it up, no problem.
I will share my results, after I try this insanity.

My tank is stuck - this will be my 3rd device under warrantee- no amount of pulling and clamping and will get it out. the agency said the lady before me had brought her's back for the same reason

no matter what you've been told, superglue is *NOT* recommended to help avoid any leaks on the tank.zingo7777 wrote:My tank is stuck - this will be my 3rd device under warrantee- no amount of pulling and clamping and will get it out. the agency said the lady before me had brought her's back for the same reason

Re: Reservoir Stuck
I just DO NOT UNDERSTAND what is happening!
There is a little ridge on the inside of the "garage". Feel inside with your hand and you can find it.
You can see the matching ridge on the outside of the tank.
When the tank is pushed inside, there is an audible click, as the tank ridge slips past the interior ridge.
I press the tank halves together during insertion to avoid extra wear on the retention edges
Pressing the halves of the tank together lowers the lid, and thus the ridge on it, allowing easy removal/insertion.
If you do not have sufficient strength to operate the latch, you might need to look into physical therapy.
