The N10 - am I doing something wrong?

Post by Minky » Wed Dec 17, 2014 7:31 am

I'm brand new to CPAP, just one week in, and don't know if I'm experiencing leaks or if I just don't like the venting of the N10.

I received it yesterday. It fit well and was very comfortable. However, when I turned the machine on it blew a lot of cold air into my eyes. My Airsense detected no leaks, so I'm wondering if this is just the venting.

I switched back to the P10, which I love, but it irritates my super sensitive skin, so I do need to switch to a nasal mask every few days.

Has anyone else had issues with the venting of the N10?

I may just send this one back and try the Wisp.

Thanks!

Have you tried wearing a liner (like the Pad-a-Cheek ones) with the P10?

Did you change the mask type setting on the AS10? Each mask type, Full, Nasal, and Pillows, have different sensing parameters.

Try a lubricant like Lansinoh . This helped me a lot.Prior to using it after 3 day I would have to use a different mask for a while. The Lansiinoh stopped the soreness.

I started out with the N10 and the air blowing into my eyes was a big problem to my severly dry eyes. I have now changed to P10 but would alternate at times due to soreness. A PadaCheek liner on the N10 does cut back the air in the eyes and makes it more comfortable on my face. After a couple of months on the P10 the soreness no longer bothers me so the N10 hasn't been used in a while.

If you want a real good Nasal mask ( not pillows) try the F&P Eson , found that mask to be way better than the N10 ! , I was always trying to keep that mask from leaking and I had some venting issue (exhale) also. Eson mask keeps me sleeping well!
Just my option

I cast another vote for the mask liners. I also switch back and forth between nasal pillows and the N10. I like the N10 a lot, but was getting air blown up into my eyes no matter what. I use the Remzzz, getting almost a week out of each one. Some here make their own out of soft cotton or soft fleece. Good luck!

Make sure that you have the right size. Too large will cause leaks at the top of the nose. This mask does not vent near the nose.
The leak may not be high enough to show up on the LCD screen.
