Classic Sleepcare DME charges
Re: Classic Sleepcare DME charges
This DME should have reviewed the price structure prior to or at least at the initial startup of cpap. Also, I would think that the DME company (Classic Sleepcare) would have also disclosed that you are out of network.
Your concern is the $35 'service charge'. Could this be some service you requested ? Was the charge submitted to the insurance company first ? Or did the charge come directly to you ? Call both your insurance provider as well as the DME provider.
As for the Doctor, he very well may know which DME's are good & bad in the area. Could he be directing you to the good, thus avoiding the bad ? With the service charge aside, how do the other charges compare to internet pricing ? Or, this is just a thought, ask the Doctor why he recommended Sleepcare ?
Good luck and sleep well.

Re: Classic Sleepcare DME charges
Could the $35 be for compliance documentation ? Some ins comp require you to use the cpap over 4 hours each night - others will monitor for first year.

Re: Classic Sleepcare DME charges
Hi everyone
I’m a bit late on the response but I just came across this thread and thought I could help out.
My name is Mike and I’m an employee over at Classic SleepCare so can hopefully clear up the confusion if anyone still had any concerns. We do not have any “service fees” or “membership fees” or any other charges associated with just being a CSC patient. Unfortunately I can’t comment on the charge amount the OP mentioned as it is contextual based on their situation, I can however say that here at Classic SleepCare, we provide the best care and work with our patients to offer them the most affordable option available within their particular insurance coverage.
If anyone else has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them for you.
Thanks
Michael

Re: Classic Sleepcare DME charges
bid24, I have Federal BC/BS and I found that in network brick and mortar DME's would cost me much more than out of network mail order DME's. In my case I think it's 80% vs 65% coverage and the 35% of the OOP mail order price was far less than the 20% of the in-network brick and mortar DME. Plus I didn't have to arguw with anyone about why I wanted something that they didn't carry.
Now if you feel you need a person to help you fit your mask or whatever I guess the extra money is worth it but I personally have not seen the value in it.

Re: Classic Sleepcare DME charges
This the response I got from Classic Sleepcare but for $45. and I am also a BCBS customer.
"$45 copay is only your responsibility to pay out of your pocket every 90 days since your Insurance is Out of Network so which means other bills will be covered by your insurance and as well as Classic SleepCare. First we will be sending claims to your Insurance and then if they responded to our claims that’s the time will be generating the bills and send it you, therefore your insurance will be sending you a check that you need to endorse to Classic SleepCare."

They don't even send my supplies to me. I've been using the same supplies for 6 months months now because they won't send the supplies to my work address instead of my home address (where I am only at 5 hours out of the day, would never receive them and couldn't sign for them or even go pick up from the carrier...) They are a TERRIBLE company. They do not communicate AT ALL. And yes, they charge when they shouldn't.
Re: Classic Sleepcare DME charges
This is an old post, but, no one is forced to use a DME that treats them badly . If you are covered by insurance , call your carrier and find out who else you can order from. If you are paying for supplies yourself, start ordering from an on line supplier like cpap.com.dwayand wrote:They don't even send my supplies to me.
