How do you stop sleeping on your face? (stomach/side sleeper

Post by Ashlization85 » Mon Dec 15, 2014 9:12 pm

Ok I need a bit of help, no matter how much I try to avoid it I always end up sleeping on my face (my mask is a wisp, love it!)

I sleep on my stomach tilted to one side with my arm up under the pillow. The pillow is kind of folded where my face is at the edge. I have slept this way all my life and even during the sleep study. They had me try on my back but I had to roll back over to get to sleep. I started with an Airfit N10 and now am using a P10. With the N10 I would sometimes push it to the side and leak but with the P10 I have very little leak.

I am also a side/stomach sleeper. I sleep about 80% side and 20% stomach. I use a full face mask. The side is no problem, but when I sleep on the stomach I need to have my face turned on the edge of the pillow. I also use a buckwheat hull pillow which makes things easier.

Same here as LSAT, I'm a stomach sleeper The buckwheat pillow is the best for me. The truth is I sleep on my back and the sides also but to fall asleep most of the time I go on my stomach.

I also am a side/ stomach sleeper - with nasal pillow masks. I usually just use my old trusty feather pillow that I can jam into whatever shape I want. When my cervical neck is acting up, I switch to an old regular contured memory foam pillow. Both work fine. No need to stop sleeping on side/ stomach; just find the right mask.

Sleep on my stomach with FFM and I use a buckwheat pillow without any problems.

Can you tell us why you feel that sleeping on your stomach is a problem and maybe someone can help you with that?

I guess for me laying on my stomach is a comfort thing. I have tried memory foam and cotton pillows but I still even with my face on the edge of the pillow I find myself with my face buried in the pillow (causes the mask to hiss and wakes my partner)

Sew empty rolls of thread onto the front of your pajamas/sleepwear. I hear that sleeping on hard lumps is very uncomfortable. Either that or get/make a pillow in the shape of a ring. That way you could sleep on your stomach and have enough room for your mask without nasty whistling sounds.

My suggestion would be to try a buckwheat pillow like http://www.amazon.com/CPAPfit-Pillow-Co ... B00NERG2O4 I haven't tried it but many on here have and give it high marks.
Or try the P10 nasal pillow. While I still can move my P10 pillows a little when I move my head on the pillow it doesn't happen very often and isn't very loud.

With my FFM it took me a while, but I got used to sleeping on my face again.

Basically a thick pillow (with just my forehead resting on it) and my arm under my head alongside the mask means I have a pocket where the mask sits, while I am still comfortable.
