S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?

S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I currently have S9 Auto, which I have had for a few years. I recently had another sleep study done and I was found to have complex apnea, where my central apneas increased significantly when CPAP was used. I just had another sleep study to see if the ASV would fix this, and was told by the techs I had excellent results with almost no events. My question is that I see the Aircurve 10 ASV has recently come out and should I request my doctor prescribe this or stay with the tried and true S9 ASV? I would think it would be beneficial to get the new one since likely support for the S9 will go away eventually, but I have seen some issues with the humidifier and pressures being off. I was wondering what all your thoughts are and if you would elect to get the Aircurve 10 or stick with the S9?
Thank you for your time!

Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I would go with the AirCurve 10 ASV if it were me and I had that choice. I like to always try the latest and greatest whenever I can.
Apparently it also has both the regular and Auto ASV modes available
http://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/pr ... 0-asv.html
Other pluses might be the even more customizable humidity settings with that model heated hose...which is always nice to have.

Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
Thank you, Pugsy. That is what I am thinking as well. When I called the DME, which is a new DME for me but preferred by my doctor, she said she didn't think they have them, but emailed management. I had the model number for her as well. I am thinking if she doesn't have it yet, I may wait until they get them in stock or can order one.
Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I think they were only release 10 days ago so most DMEs aren't going to probably know much about them.
Also most DMEs don't necessarily keep many (if any) ASVs on the shelf anyway because of the price. So they would probably have to order either anyway. I would be a bit leery of a DME that said "oh, we have one here right now" as I would suspect maybe a used machine...being the type of person I am in those situations.
Worth waiting for I would think. I would love to have one but since I have to get mine on the "gray" market it's going to be quite a while before I will see them in a price I can afford.

Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I consider it almost a tossup. The S9 ASV has a good track record. The AirCurve is brand new, and doesn't have any obvious big improvements over the S9.

Just 2 days ago I received my S10 ASV and it is great. -- but I am recently diagnosed so I have nothing to compare
I am enjoying the wifi and the "my air" data.

Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
Thanks. Pugsy, I agree that if they have them in stock, it is likely used, but I don't know how it would be used since its new so not likely in stock. I am still waiting to hear back from the DME to see if they can get it. I think on the one hand I already have supplies that will work with the S9, but it will be nice to have the newest so that it is supported for a long time and insurance will cover new supplies.
Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I was thinking more of the S9 Adapt than I was the AirCurve. Highly unlikely that anyone has the AirCurve sitting on the shelf...and since the Adapt is so pricey and is usually special ordered then if someone had an Adapt sitting on the shelf I would wonder about its possible prior use.Guest wrote: if they have them in stock, it is likely used, but I don't know how it would be used since its new so not likely in stock.

I thought it was posted here that the data from myAir was pretty much useless and you should get SleepyHead???b.rosenberg.mednax wrote:I am enjoying the wifi and the "my air" data.
Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
It's somewhat useful data, but much, much less than what SleepyHead or ResScan provides. It's a bit like the check engine light on your car vs. a full set of gauges. If it shows everything is good, and you're not having other problems, you're probably OK.Christine L wrote:I thought it was posted here that the data from myAir was pretty much useless and you should get SleepyHead???b.rosenberg.mednax wrote:I am enjoying the wifi and the "my air" data.

Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I got a call from the DME and they informed me they will be ordering me a 10, but now are waiting to see if insurance will have them purchase it or rent it. She said it will come with the water chamber and heated line.
Re: S9 ASV or Aircurve ASV?
I would really love to rent an Aircurve ASV or even an S9 ASV for a month to try it out. I like my PR960 but I do wonder if there is an even better machine out there. I have never really been happy with the auto backup rate on the PR960 and there are times when the PS seems to get 'stuck' on a relatively high pressure support that causes a lot of air swallowing.

Not WiFi...........it's Cellular.....in the US it is a CDMA carrier like Sprint or Verizon.................and the unit only transmits "Summary Data" over the Cellular connection.
