nasal mask

Post by gilmour » Thu Nov 27, 2014 5:45 am

I tried using the nasal mask but the pressure is so strong that my sinuses cannot handle it. Pressure is set at 14. Any suggestions. I have my first check up in two weeks.

A little more info would certainly help (us to help you). And it would have been better to post your two threads as one, but for now...

What mask do you have? Which others have you tried? What about full face masks (like nasals, but also cover your mouth) and how did they work out?

Are you therefore on straight Cpap vs Auto?

What machine and model # do you have?

Can you enclose your machine to any extent in some kind of plastic (without actually sealing off the inlet of course) box, etc. or move it anywhere else, possibly even to a night table with a hole in one side for the hose (I'm sure your wife will be thrilled, but it's done).

Wow Julie, ease up. This is my first time joining any forum. I will be sure to get my profile finished asap. I will be sure to be more specific about what I am concerned about. In the mean time I am going to have a cup of coffee and give this site some thought. Seems like you came at me with both barrels.

gilmour,
I agree with Julie - you may want to try a full face mask.
I'm fond of resmed quattro fx, but the airfit 10 might work for you too.

We're pretty gung-ho about taking control of our own therapy around here.
If it seems like a lot of information is tossed at you all at once, no worries. We all know it can be a lot to absorb. Take your time responding and figuring things out.

If you're worried about privacy issues or forum members prying into your life, remember that nobody can parse who you are, where you live or any other particulars without your first giving us that information. But I agree with Julie that knowing your machine particulars and gender will help us help you better. There are machines and masks made expressly for women for more suitable fit.

Anyway - hope you'll join us. Here are some directions for filling out the equipment profile, if someone hasn't already given that info elsewhere on the forum. Welcome.

1. Click "User Control Panel".
2. Click "Profile" tab.
3. Click "Edit Equipment" subtab.

wow, what is it with the tender flowers these days that want to be given a bed of roses and cushions and no actual helpful questions or suggestions?

is there some protocol, "hi I've got these questions"
"oh, hello there, please come in, here's a glass of milk and cookies, make yourself comfortable"
"how nice"
"yes, would you like a cushion for your feet? couch comfy enough"
etc etc etc.

you said you had a problem, unless you just want wild ass guesses in return, since you provided almost NO information, then people are going to ask you for more information, so they can try and give you some INFORMED and pertinent suggestions that might help.

But... I probably could have been nicer... had just come in from shovelling stairs - got walloped last night with a ton of snow - so sorry, and welcome, and please don't go away mad.

I can identify. My first roast turkey had to be prepared when I was on crutches.
-----"why me?" --I had rear-ended a car with my motorcycle.
That was when I really learned how to "hop to it".

If you aren't ready for answers...why ask the questions?
OR you could skip reading responses til after tea or coffee and a nap...I prefer the "all over it like a fat kid on a donut" speed for responses, personally. Timing might be critical. Julie had great points...and was polite enough, just enthusiastic to help.

When I was dong my in-lab tests I tried Resmed Mirage Nasal or women, but could not stand the bar in the middle of the face. So I got the Swift FX in xtra small size. Worked fine But then there was also the P10 to try. And I did. Not good. Since it has a hard shell by the nostril piece it pushed into my nose. So I was offered something that, by looking at it, you would think would be a burden. But no!

Now I use the Pilairo Q and it is wonderful. 1 size really does fit all, including my tiny nose. With the AirSense for Women, not a peep is being heard.

It finds where it needs to fit on its own. The wider carapace does not push against my nose, although it may encounter my pillow once in a while. Super comfy, and also not as loud at the Swift FX which would create a small tornado noise if I put my arm of pillow in front of the vent. No thanks.

Love my Pil - Air -O - Q.

Hence why I rarely post on here. I've been accused of being mean to someone, IMO I wasn't, just very direct. I think its my Aussie upbringing . Eg; if I think you are moron, I'll tell you
