I have an f&p simplus ff mask with resmed soft edge quality quatro air head gear. I wash mask and face with baby shampoo.
I use a silk mask liner more often than not. But I still get a rash around the base of the mask of I use the liner or not.
Has anyone tried manuka honey or pawpaw (papaya) ointment to treat rash?
Or any other suggestions?
What had worked best for those who have been on cpap for long term?
I am unable to use nasal mask or pillows.
Thanks!

I can't help with personal knowledge...but if you have such sensitive skin, do you have a dermatologist you can run this past? Seems to me that if your skin is that touchy, you'd be best served by someone who knows you and your skin's issues firsthand.

Perhaps try a liner of different fabric... Pad-A-Cheeks (http://www.padacheek.com) and RemZzzs (https://www.cpap.com or from many DMEs) are two you could try. Alternatively, you could make one of some other fabric. The suggestion to ask a dermatologist is a good one

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

Thanks. I've tried the remzzz - it's where I got the idea to make my own liner which kind of fits on like a baby nappy.
I've tried microfiber, flannelette, cheese cloth, calico, pure cotton and pure silk - which was the least irritating and no leaks.
I accept that the rash is part and parcel of me using cpap and know that my sensitivity is because of multiple medications for other conditions I have.
I was just wondering if anyone had success with reducing severity of rash using those products as they are natural products.
I was hoping to get advice as to which was better to use before I purchase one or the other. These were suggested by my skin specialist.
Also, excuse my ignorance, but DME? I don't know this term.
I'm due to see my respiratory specialist and cpap provider on Thursday next week, but wanted to try to clear it up before the.

DME=Durable Medical Equipment (provider or the equipment itself, both tend to be referred to as DME) used in the context above it would be what you call your cpap provider.Bella Rose wrote:

Hi - something people tend to forget is that just because something is 'natural' doesn't mean it can't be as toxic as anything else. Not saying the two (honey, etc.) are toxic as I don't know, but it's important to remember.

THANK YOU GREMLIN!!!!! You were right. The mask was not quite tight enough and was causing a friction type burn.Gremlin wrote:dont dispair bella rose!

It was confirmed by my new CPAP provider, the fit fixed and (after using the Manuka honey you recommend and clearing the burn marks up), I've had no more trouble.
I still use the Silk liner as an extra barrier, but I now look human again and can leave my house without fearing the stares and comments of other people.
Again Gremlin, THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
