I am in Rochester,NY I've been a CPAP customer for years. I have a resmed machine w/ full face mask (mouth breather). SUDDENLY my ins company needs my machine so it can get data to prove that I use it 70% of the time..so I can get a new MASK CUSHION..WTF??? the store is on the other side of the county (there used to be 3 stores!) Anyway,,,,are there alternatives for supplies??? Also my machine and mask make a whistling noise so I have to sleep w/ earplugs..I am exhausted!

If all you need is a cushion, replacement parts can be purchased online without a prescription. Unless you have some real good insurance, the cost of replacement cushions isn't that much. Check with our online host, CPAP.com.

Can you share a bit more info with us. Exactly which machine do you have and which mask, brand model and size?

Your machine should not be whistling how old is it? Maybe its time for a replacement. What insurance do you have?
If you do need a new machine, this year may be better than next year as far as deductibles and copays.

Depending on your machine you may be able to download the free SleepyHead software and generate a report that you could eMail to the insurance company or DME to satisfy their compliance issue.

Many insurances are following Medicares lead on the compliance so they can (and will) reduce and stop payment for machines that are not being used - can you blame them?

The whistling I suspect is coming from goober doo collecting in the mask vent. Cleaning out the exhaust vent holes can stop the whistling.

You can either:
1) buy your supplies online
2) mail your data card to dme (some on here get an extra data card and send the extra data card)
3) mail a printout of your data to your dme
