An 02 drop to 89 is not considered to be a problem - 88 is usually the cut-off and if all she had were 1-2 drops rather than many I wouldn't consider her 02 to be bad.

I am concerned for several reasons:
1) before the formal sleep study, I had her on the 02 meter, tere were 60+ events with sat drops. This convinced her to do he study.
2) during the study there were 39 events events when the breathing was interrupted for less than 8 seconds but there were sat drops.
3) I am seeing the same patterns in her waveforms. (need t post the) flat section on flow for 5-7 seconds
4) I kow that the formal cutoff is 88, I also compared my 02 meter to several others including the one from an overnight recording from the DR and from 3 RNs who did home visits. The results were strange, my machine was 3 points higher than the official one from the DR (on more than 20 checks) and 1-2 points lower than the ones from the RN. SO, the actual real number could have been from anywhere from 86 to 92.
5) She has MS and a 30% reduction in lung capacity. She recently had surgery and when coming out of ansethia, cold not maintain her 02 above 80 withut oxygen for 4 hours. She then had a lug collapse and was re-admitted to the hosp of 3 days. Her volume at the time was only 250.

I have not uploaded her 02 numbers this morning, but it will be interesting.

Pressure pulses are tiny puffs of air to help the machine decide what is going on ....something obstructive in nature or central. They may or may not be associated with a flagged event. They are of no consequence. You can ignore them.
RERAs Respiratory Event Related Arousals.
Explained in the clinical manual as far as the definition. Short version is the machine thinks the breathing pattern means there may have been an arousal. These are NOT part of the AHI and unless you are seeing a large number or big clusters..they aren't an issue. Random through the night so that a person has a handful over the night isn't a big deal.

I don't remember what was discussed originally in your notes, but from the sound of things I suggest working closely with a pulmonologist who's very familiar with apnea and the equipment (Cpap, etc.) because your wife obviously has issues we can't really address or fix - it's certainly not all about Cpap in her case. I hope you do find answers - she's very lucky to have you!

But please don't take this to mean we don't want to hear from you about how things go, or that we won't continue trying to help whenever possible!

Thanks for the replies
I appreciate all of them, and take no offense to anything at all

We are working with a good dr on this, they have been suppprtive. They did a home o2 based on my readings, they put her on o2 while we were waiting for the tests. They also ordered a home sleep study based on my concern. They also started cpap because of 34 times when her sats dropped bit the event was to short to count.

Again thanks for the support.

I did get a fullnight o2 from her, there were drops to 87
Will probably wait to see what happens after the home study

Thanks again
