How do I get a new mask without prescription?

I know you need a prescription to buy complete masks, But where would be the best place to get the components of a mask (Mask and headgear) that has a return policy. Is it possible? I noticed on CPAP.com they have return insurance but only on complete masks. Is that the only way to get return insurance? I wanted to try a couple different masks but don't want to own them if I don't like them.

How can you try a mask if you don't get the full thing? If you try the full mask, you can get the return insurance (for most masks). People who buy the parts usually know their mask is the one they want to use, so return insurance is unnecessary.

The OP said he has no prescription, and therefore, can't buy a complete mask.

e-bay has parts but no return insurance. You can search for the specific parts you want.
Craigslist has masks but no insurance.

Amazon sells the masks in 2 pieces (mask and headgear seperatly) so you dont need an RX. Unless the "trial period" is a manufacturer policy (like with ResMed), most vendors (both online and B&M) charge extra for "return insurance". The masks I have looked at on amazon do state returns have to be made thru an authorized ResMed dealer

I don't know of any place that a person can buy the mask parts that has return insurance available on those parts.
You are pretty much going to need a RX if you want to make use of any return insurance.
Any doctor or dentist or NP..who can normally write RX...can be used...even family GP. Doesn't have to be a sleep doctor.

What masks were you looking at? My supply of donated items is really low right now (at least in the recently released masks) but maybe I have what you are looking for and if I do it's real cheap...free except for postage.

If your PCP will not write a prescription, you can ask your dentist or a physician's assistant.

Returning the mask so that the person gets their money back if they hate the mask.
At cpap.com...some masks come with free return insurance and some masks you have to pay for the insurance.
Even if we pay for the return insurance that's better than losing the entire purchase price if we hate the mask.
The free insurance masks...that's really nice because nothing is lost if we hate the mask.
When we buy the return insurance...it costs money but at least not as much as the entire mask costs...especially some of those really pricey full face masks.
With cpap.com the return insurance includes a prepaid shipping label for the return.

Unfortunately return insurance is not available when we buy the parts and build our own masks from the parts.
But the parts don't require a RX where as a full complete mask package does. Stupid law...like who in their right mind would buy a mask if they didn't need it....but it is what it is and we deal with it.

Thanks for the info guys.... I'll try getting ahold of my GP... (She is a little flaky and hard to get ahold of.... ) Should I ask for a script for a cpap mask?
