Ppsv 23 and prevnar 13 are the two injections I received

I have COPD maybe that is the reason it was covered

That could be because the rules allow additional injections for high risk individuals.

It could also be that Medicare doesn't have safeguards to prevent that some get a shot every year for years.

Do what you want, but here is what I did. I got the regular pneumo vac when I was sixty and my private insurance paid for it. I got Prevnar 13 upon turning 65 because Medicare would pay for it. If it turns out later they say I need a third shot I will play the Medicare game and if that fails I have the money to pay for my own.

So really the economics was the big part of my timing. Who knows what Medicare will be like five years from now?
