Exercises?
Exercises?
Has anyone heard of any exercises to strengthen throat muscles which have the potential to cause blockage?

Hi Wonder,
I have not heard of any exercises to help obstructive sleep apnea, other than getting to your ideal body weight. Even then it is not a given that apnea will go away. Loose tissue in your airway can still remain.
Has anyone else heard of exercises we could be doing?

Cpap Excersices
I have not heard of excercises to stop the apnea; I did lose weight after I was diagnosed almost 7 yrs ago, and got to my normal weight, then I had a new sleep study,,,no luck, so depressing, I will have the cpap for life, the way my jaw sets and my throat.
I know some people think just because you are heavy that is why you have apnea, that is not true, and losing weight does help for some people, it is certainly worth a try.
Good Luck,
Apnatic, now with a FF mask for life, 17 cm

Thanks, folks, for the input. To clarify, I've heard that apnea can have several causes like fatty tissue, slack muscle tissue, large tongue and the shape of the jaw/throat. I'm a neophyte, so I'm unsure if this is true or what the relative percentage of the various causes are. I'm at my ideal weight and always have been so excess fat is probably not the problem and losing body weight probably won't help my apnea. So I was hoping that the my cause might be slack muscle tissue. I'll try to invent some throat exercises and see what happens--a long shot but worth a try.
