Re: Beginning to Tire & Doze Off Again
What, specifically, should I post from SleepyHead? here it is, in pictures. also, be sure to follow the links on the bottom of each page: https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead/shorganize You know, I read these instructions over and over and over again...makes me wonder why they aren't the def...

Re: Sleepyhead and power failure
Sleepyhead. Would a battery backup UPS be sufficient to cover this type of situation? WTH??? In the bigger scheme of things, what is an occasional missed night of SH? Wouldn't a walk on the beach put you waaaay ahead? We get LOTS of power failures out here, long and short. The question was meant to...

Re: Sleepyhead and power failure
sometimes sleepyhead still has problems with aborted, short sessions... you could zip up your card, and send a note to jedimark about it, he might want the data, to see if he can make the handling better. Unfortunately, I didn't have a spare card handy, so when my machine asked to reformat, I said ...

Re: Sleepyhead and power failure
... Would a battery backup UPS be sufficient to cover this type of situation? If the outage was for only a short period, then one of the computer UPS systems would work just fine. I have one the is good for a couple of hours for my machine and prevents loss of data as well as loss of my breathing s...

Sleepyhead and power failure
I think there was a short power outage during the night last night, especially because I remember an incident when I could not take a breath (more than one). I thought it was part of a dream, but in retrospect think it was actually the CPAP shutting down during the power out that partially woke me. ...

Re: ResMed's
In fact, the trial found the risk of dying for those patients was 10 per cent per year, compared with 7.5 per cent for patients who did not receive the adaptive-servo ventilation treatment. Out of context, it really doesn't mean anything. These patient could have been in much worse shape than those...

Re: HIPAA Covered Entities
Oh, and as far as HIPAA, I don't think that even if somebody here posted somebody else's data on the internet that it falls under HIPAA guidelines, since we are not Covered Entities. But then, I'm not a lawyer... or a doctor.

Re: HIPAA Covered Entities
According to the site referenced: "This is because the title of "doctor" indicates that the person giving advice has gone through the rigorous process of medical school and succeeded in obtaining a medical license." Not true. The title of doctor is an academic conferring of a doctorate degree. It do...

Re: CPAP and prescription requirements.
The statute for this code is very sketchy and short. I'm sure there's more, but, honestly, I don't really have time to pursue it further. Hope this helps. Thanks, Irene. People often ask, "why is a prescription required for CPAP?" The answer seems to be buried deep within the rules and regulations ...

Re: CPAP and prescription requirements.
What would happen in court if someone wanted to prosecute a lay person for advising or selling an e.g. Class 2 device to another lay person who ended up getting sick as a result? Who would be at fault - the seller who may or may not have given cautionary advice to the buyer, or the buyer, who shoul...

Re: CPAP and prescription requirements.
Just for interest, I'm posting a link to the 510(k) clearance database. I pulled an old one for a full face mask by Respironics. It shows the summary section of the submission by Respironics, the letter granting clearance, and a short summary by the FDA. Note that at the very end there is a selectio...

Re: CPAP and prescription requirements.
I'm pulling this info from memory, from the days when I did 510(k) submissions to the FDA to obtain clearance for our devices, which were in a slightly different category because they were diagnostic devices. Class II device are really split into 2 classes, A and B. I don't remember which is which, ...
