Hey RogueWarrior,
You never said how old you are. Are you under 30?

You said you have Hypothyroidism. I am not sure how they treat that. What meds do they give you for that? Have you tried taking Iodine as low iodine will cause your thryoid to get out of wack and make it real easy to gain weight as your metabolism is kept low. Check out this Iodine. Its good stuff. No bad taste. http://store.infowars.com/Survival-Shie ... _1104.html A lot of people are getting thyroid problems because iodine has been taken out of the american diet. Most likely by design. Instead you get fluorine and chlorine from processed city water supply and bromine in the flour. All are not what you body needs but will take up if iodine is not present. Yeah, check out Inforwars.com as they have good news/info on there.

As far as type 2 diabetes goes, you don't show high blood sugar on the 12 hour fast blood test until its real bad. Your numbers will be on the high side but under the number they flag you with saying that its too high. What happens is that certains foods (soft white bread is real bad) will sit in your gut and won't move and it breaks down a dumps lots of sugar into your system for hours at a time. This will jack your sugar up and give you that high that is addicting until its start making you feel bad. Tired and sleepy. So basically as long as you stay away from those certain foods that have a high concentration of sugar or produce it when they break down your Ok. That is most breads and pastas.

Besides being a carb addict there is another theory that I came across. A lot of store bought foods don't have the mineral and vitamin content that you need, so the body craves or wants more food to try to satisfy those minerals or vitamins thats needed. So if you get most of those vitamins and minerals you need you won't have the craving for food as much and you don't have to consume all the high calorie foods which leads you to carb addictions. This is how the big food manufactures hook you on their foods and keep you coming back for more. Low vitamin and mineral content and high carbs. So when you go on a diet and break the carb addiction (2 to 3 weeks of fasting) you want to be on a good multivitamin plan before you do the diet. Check into the essential vitamins and minerals the body needs. So when you do your diet your not getting cravings for those vitamins and minerals. It makes the fasting easier.

You have the fat gene and it runs in certain families. If you have the fat gene you put on fat quickly and don't burn it or take it off easily. Inorder to burn it you have to fast for several days to a week or more for the body to switch over to fat burn mode. So this is something you just have to learn to deal with. Your body is made for a world where food is scarce or low calorie. Todays world of high calorie food works against you. Once you realize this, then you change your eating habits as well as your entire families eating habits as many of them have the fat gene as well.

I have thyroid disease and it has caused so many health issues it's ridiculous. I was never overweight or had any trouble with sleep issues until the thyroid disease took over. 2 things my doctor told me to do to help with my energy and weight was to take magnesium and D3. It has helped somewhat.

Here is a great link to read for people who don't know about hypothyroidism.

Years ago I was in a bible study group, and one of the guys in the group was a diabetic. He was on total disability, and I couldn't figure out why -- while some diabetics can't control their blood sugar with diet/meds, he didn't seem to have trouble with that. As time went on and I got to know him better, I realized what was going on. Besides the diabetes, he was also extremely rigid and controlling and obsessive. This caused a terrible interaction between the two conditions -- he couldn't lighten up on the debilitating mental illness because he was afraid he was going to die from the diabetes if he did.

I live my life, and what I weigh is how it turns out. You know, eating disorders have about a 30% mortality rate, and the "you just need to weigh less" crowd are asking you to turn on a bizarre obsession with food -- a mental illness -- and then when you lose the right amount of weight you are just supposed to turn it back off.
