Provider Manural for Philps Respirpnics 960

Post by racprops » Thu Oct 30, 2014 3:07 pm

This maybe a wild goose chase BUT I tried getting information out of philips respironics help line and was not doing as well as I hoped when he said "They cannot sell or give me the "Provider Manual for Philips Respironics BiPAP autoSV Advanced System One"

This I believe is much more detailed that the Provider Guild (Or as some call them Clinical manual) many of us have which shows how to get into the main settings but lacks details and any understanding what these settings do and how.

He said it would provide full details of the settings and how they can interact with the subject..

This could be the Holly Grail for us.

Anyone got one or can we all try to get one??

Rich

Go to the following link and scroll down to " How to ask for a manual via email" and follow the instructions for the manual of your choice.

Unfortunately only the 950 clinician manual is currently available. I am working on getting a manual for the 960. My first two try's struck out, but I am still working on it.

the "provider guide" as it's titled, is what you can get from apneaboard.com, PRS1 manuals are pretty sparse compared to the resmed manuals.

there's never been a hint of a super duper secret manual, just the secret provider/clinician guide that everybody here has.... well, I don't have one, since all my stuff is resmed s9.

I have my 950 clinician manual.

I barely gives the name of each setting...

I NEED to know what these settings REALLY do, IE BPM (Breaths per Minute) ALL it has is you can adjust it from 4 to 30 BPM at IBPM increments. NOTHING else.

Then a thing called Ti shows up and it allows you to adjust the settings Inspiration Time setting (WHAT IS THAT???) from .o3 to 3.0 IF it is not on auto or off which does not even show..and the PS is greater than ZERO ...

So is it how fast you get air? OR is it how long you get air OR is it how long before it stops your breath..It seems to do those things...

There are only some seven real settings that can effect your breath...BUT how they interact and react to one and another seems to a lot more critical than I would have thought.

I am getting some odd readings and would like to know what settings might help.

I have made some progress but I don't know what and how I did, it is like messing with a car and suddenly getting 50MPG and you don't know how and worst suddenly it now gets 20MPG and again you don't know what happened.

well, I've got a couple prs160 manuals, and I think they're pretty shit compared to the resmed manuals... there's not nearly as much info in them. you might want to get the 960 manual, it may have a tiny bit more, but I wouldn't count on it, based on the other x60 manuals I've got. (I don't have a 960 manual)

it's pretty obvious what the bpm is, and what it does... I wouldn't expect much explanation for that.

ti is your Time of Inspiration, (inspiration=inhale, don't you love it when they use alternative words, you'll love the word for exhale... "expiration". I was watching a bilevel training video on youtube and the respiratory tech actually said "the patients expiration, er, wait, let's call it exhalation! (cue uncomfortable laughter)). ti is how long your inhale time is, the resmed bilevels have settable timin and timax, which sets the min and max times that the machine will stay at ipap. this is all helpfully explained in the resmed vpap manuals , now that you know what ti is, you know why it doesn't show up if ps=0, because there's no pressure change to ipap on inhale with ps=0... right?

the 'how fast you get air' would be a parameter that resmed (and possibly others) calls 'rise time' which is how long it takes to go from epap to ipap. unless you have respiratory problems, you just want ti to match up with how you want to breath. there are cases if you have obstructive or restrictive pulmonary issues that you'd want either a short or long ti time to help compensate. (also got out of the resmed manual)

hope this helps.

ApneaBoard has a copy of the PR System One series 60 ASV manual.
